She's Back

I woke up this morning, checked the chart, and honestly? I got a little emotional.

Bitcoin is back above $83,000. After everything — the dip to $81,000 overnight, the ETF bleeding, the doom-posters on X declaring the rally dead — she just... bounced. Like she always does. Like she has done a hundred times before, and like I keep forgetting she will do again.

Let me set the scene, because it's actually kind of beautiful. Over in South Korea, the stock market is having a full meltdown. The KOSPI dropped 7.4% in a week. Chip stocks are getting destroyed — SK Hynix down more than 10% in a day, Samsung still nursing its weak earnings report. Foreign investors have dumped around $129 billion of Korean tech stocks this year. The AI trade that carried 2026 is wobbling, everyone's nervous about Chinese competition, and the whole thing smells like August's selloff all over again.

And Bitcoin? Bitcoin looked at all of that and said: nah.

While Asian tech was bleeding out, BTC climbed more than 2.5% on Tuesday, touching $83,944 and retracing Monday's entire drop. For years people said Bitcoin was just a leveraged tech stock with extra steps — correlated to the Nasdaq, slave to the same risk flows. And look at it now, decoupling in real time, holding its ground while semiconductors crater. I won't lie, that felt good. That felt like watching the kid everyone counted out walk into the room and sit at the head of the table.

Now, before we pop the champagne — and I know some of you already did, I saw the laser eyes come back out — let's be honest about the ceiling. $84,000 is a wall. The order books are stacked with sellers up there, and Bitcoin has knocked on that door multiple times now without breaking through. The ETFs are still bleeding too: roughly $451 million in outflows this month, including $69 million on Monday alone. Institutional demand is, to put it kindly, taking a nap. And $82,000 is the floor we cannot afford to lose — fall through that and the chart people start whispering about much uglier numbers.

But here's the thing that actually matters, the thing that made me smile at my phone like an idiot at 7 AM: the bid is alive. Treasury yields eased. The dollar softened. Oil slipped back under $90. The macro weather cleared just enough, and Bitcoin — with no ETF help, with everyone bearish, with Korea burning — found buyers anyway. That's not a dead market. That's a market waiting for a reason.

And the reason might be tomorrow. Wednesday brings the US inflation report, and the Fed meets October 27–28. The market is pricing an 80%+ chance the Fed holds rates steady. A soft CPI print, and suddenly that $84,000 wall doesn't look so tall. Above it sits $87,000 — the September high, the real boss fight — and past that, well. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One wall at a time.

I've been in this market long enough to know the cycle of feelings by heart. The despair at $81,000 last night — the group chats going quiet, the "should I just sell" texts. Then the relief this morning. Then, if we break $84K, the euphoria. Then the inevitable overconfidence. Then the next dip, and we do the whole emotional rollercoaster again. It's exhausting. It's also, weirdly, why I love this thing. Bitcoin doesn't just move your portfolio. It moves you.

So yeah. She's back. Not all the way back — $87,315 from September 21 is still the mountain to climb, and the sellers at $84K aren't going anywhere without a fight. But she's back, and she's doing it on her own terms, without Wall Street's help, while the rest of risk is on fire.

If that doesn't make you feel something, I don't know what will.

(Not financial advice. I write about my feelings; you manage your money.)
