Ever since the ongoing fiasco of Coinbase continued to evolve into something worse, I've been exploring other digital wallets. One of the tried and true tools that I've come across has been Coin Wallet. Originally, I discovered it when I was busy learning Unix computing and setting up Ubuntu platforms. Among the free software available in the Linux world, Coin Wallet stood out right away because of its stability as well as a robust menu of coins and token that it could handle. Once I needed to migrate off of Coinbase Wallet's account completely this year, it was a no brainer to move things over to Coin Wallet instead.
Then came the need to deposit XMR. Unlike many of my other coins, which involved a simple address copy and send action and things showed up automatically, XMR is a bit different. Normally, if you use a full XMR wallet, such as MyMonero, it will download the XMR chain. Coin Wallet doesn't do that. So, instead, you have go through a multi-step process to get the transaction to show up after sending a deposit.
Completing XMR Deposits
It works like this:
First, you copy the destination address from the Coin Wallet and post in your sending account. Complete the send transaction and commit.
Second, in Coin Wallet, you go to your XMR sub-account and display the screen with the RECEIVE button (see above). Press it. In the 2nd sub-screen, you then hit the ACCEPT button.
This will open up a 3rd sub-screen where you post the transaction ID of the deposit transaction (you get that from XMR explorer or from your sending account), and then hit the green ACCEPT button at the bottom.
Once you have done all the above, then your XMR deposit will show up in Coin Wallet. If everything is done right, and former President Obama is in the pub sitting next to you watching, he will give you a thumbs up in approval.
