In the fall of 1978, a singer came to us, whose passport showed hop origin, but a Spanish surname with a strange song on his shoulders. Patrick Hernandez, officially French, contributed to the world "born to live" and was accepted by the world as a prodigal son. Over the next year, he took disco to number one in nearly every country on the planet, selling nearly 1.5 million singles and 52 gold records.

It goes without saying that it is one of the most danceable themes for different generations due to its impressive and unique style that surprises and dazzles at the same time thanks to its novelties. Three and a half years later, Born to be alive lives on in the disco legacy, participating in the disco death rush and having a major influence on subsequent offerings. When the genre known as Eurodisco has exhausted its last strength, Hernández arrives and, like a phoenix, the dance floor rises from its ashes.

However, Hernández had a long way to go to achieve fame and recognition. His musical offerings were initially not well received in his native France, where the market was still focused on chanson production. As a result, he had trouble finding managers, producers, and even record companies. The Italian Jean Van Loo was the one who believed him and took him to the house of Aquarius in Belgium, who edited the song. The impact was immediate and quickly caught the attention of the Anglo-Saxon market. The new remix from producers Tom Hayden and Mike Stewart also features the US extended version of "Born to Live" featuring Maxili. That's when it became a timeless classic. Even today it is common in thematic shows, and of course this type of work can be found in all the compilations dedicated to club sounds.

Since its release in 1979, Hernandez has sold 25 million copies of Born to be alive, and it still serves him well to this day. In an interview with the gossip magazine "Gala", the singer explained:

When I wake up in the morning, I already know that I earn between 800 and 1,500 dollars a day and if a big brand uses his song for an advertising campaign, that number increases significantly, he added.

So, gentlemen, continue enjoying this great song.
