Maybe many of you haven't heard of the country of Listenbourg. That's OK, because it doesn't exist.. or does it?! What started as an internet joke on Twitter aimed at Americans and the stereotype of their lack of knowledge about geography became instantly viral in social media.
Where's Listenbourg? Well, according to most (photoshopped) maps Listenbourg is located in the Iberian peninsula, bordering Portugal, Spain, and the Atlantic Ocean. Think of it as the Atlantis of internet trolls!
What else do we know about Listenbourg? It is part of the European Union. It hosts its own Formula One Grand Prix. Its astronauts made it to the Moon. Who knows, maybe they launched their own Moon mission called "ListenMoon 1".
The political system of this fantastic place, and it is literally fantastic as it does not really exists, is centered around the "extreme centre party". Marrying extremism and centrism is a feat that only Listenbourg could boast of achieving. To add to that, it has its own King who is a descendant of Listen VX, the real Sun King. Apparently Louis XV of France stole the title of Sun King from the late King of Listenbourg.
To those of you already intrigued by Listenbourg and its unique beauty you should know that the country's Ministry of Interior is already receiving applications for visas and Listenbourgish identity documents. Do you have an Listenbourgish ancestor? Then, you are probably eligible for citizenship.
If you aren't convinced about the prospect of moving there but you need to learn more about Listenbourg before making such a bold move in your life. Then, there are plenty of accounts and posts about Listenbourg on Twitter from the country's "official" authorities that you can follow and an Wikipedia article with all necessary information!
