Who Decides?

Who Decides?

Who should decide your medical treatments? The answer is... YOU! When you get advice from a doctor it is their duty to inform you of the possible risks and benefits of the treatment options, then you make the decision. You have the right for "informed consent".

"Informed consent is the process in which a health care provider educates a patient about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of a given procedure or intervention. The patient must be competent to make a voluntary decision about whether to undergo the procedure or intervention. Informed consent is both an ethical and legal obligation of medical practitioners in the US and originates from the patient's right to direct what happens to their body."

Along with Informed consent there is patient Autonomy. According to Carolyn A. Bernstein, MD “Autonomy means being in control of your own decisions without outside influence — in other words, that you are in charge of yourself.”

For years insurance companies have decided which of our medical treatments to cover. They decide what drugs we can take and what procedures we can get. Years ago after I had a surgery where the normal hospital stay was for three days, my insurance company only approved two days. I was not ready to go home, but the insurance company made the decision on the length of my hospital stay.

Now, in addition to the insurance companies telling us what we can and cannot do for medical care, the government is pushing their demands on us with the vaccine and mask mandates. It certainly seems like neither the insurance companies nor the government are concerned about us and our health.

The article, Medical Journal Warns About Masks’ Potentially Devastating Consequences talks about a video regarding the health risks for children wearing masks, YouTube took it down.

"The ostensibly objectionable remark came from Harvard Professor Martin Kulldorff: 'Children should not wear face masks,' he said. 'They don’t need it for their own protection and they don’t need it for protecting other people either.'”

Here is another link that addresses The Dangers of Masks for everyone. Whether it’s wearing masks that appear to be dangerous (see above links) or getting the COVID vaccines which have documented short-term risks and unknown long-term risks. (See VAERS for statistics.)

It’s time we insist on our patient autonomy and require the doctors to tell us the risks and benefits of any treatments. If you get COVID, ask your doctor about the risks of Remdisivir and the benefits of Ivermectin. If your doctor won’t prescribe Ivermectin or other beneficial treatments (NOT Remdisivir) then I would strongly recommend looking for another doctor.

I am not a doctor. These are only my opinions based on research.
