I thought I would share some of the data I have from my posts so you can get a picture of what the benefits are of being shown on the front page. Of course, this does not show the whole picture, but merely a piece of it. But I figure a piece is better than nothing. =)

What is missing

I thought I would talk about what is missing, so you can better use the data that is later shared. The first thing is most of my posts acquire new views for approximately the first 24 to 36 hours. After that, they tend to go into slow mode where they will get a handful of views each day. 

I am not looking into the initial impact a post has on being on the front page.

Also, I am not looking at the tips, I am solely focusing on the number of views. But if you want to get a number for the tip, a really good number for tips for me is $0.1 per 100 views. This number is something I am basically never able to keep up with after 3-400 views. After that, if not before, the $ per 100 views drops of significantly.

The data

I will share some data from a few of my posts that have had prolonged front-page exposure. With it, we can try and get a grasp of how big an impact a prolonged exposure on the front page will have on a post.

Here the 4th to 7th days were spent on the front page, and they resulted in about 100 views per day. On day 8th, the post was a little time on the front page then later fall off. 

This post managed to spend a lot of days on the front page, days 4 to 10. And each day it got around 50 views.

This post shows on day 5 a dip as it for most of that day fell off from the front page. But it came back for 3.5 more days. All of these days results in around 50 views each.

This post is probably one of the more interesting ones. Here it spends days 4 to 6 on the front page to then fall off. But only to make it back 10 days later and then make it back for 2 more days. This shows the best probably that the effect the front page has on a post is pretty consistent. These days got 60-80 views each.

The result

I think with this I am able to pretty sure say that if a post spends time on the front page it will keep tracking a stable number of views. These numbers are either around 50 per day or 100. And all four of the posts had a very even and consistent number of new views. Wich, I find very interesting.

Maybe the difference in numb er of views can be attributed to different topics. But I feel the dataset I have is far too small to even look at that for.
