Evangelism: 3 Creative and Effective Tools to Help You in Presenting the Gospel

We have a single Great Commission but many ways to execute it. We are all different and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily fit somebody else.

There are different cultures, mindsets and challenges we face when we step out with a desire to share our faith. What works in America, won’t be always applicable in Africa. What we can boldly and openly do in Europe will be a dangerous approach in the Middle East.

I was very shy to step out on my own. I had the desire but very little boldness.

One day God told me that I can find my way how I feel comfortable approaching people. I don't have to bound to a Roman Road method or anything else.

Here are some methods that I found easy and effective no matter how much experience you have in Evangelism.

Printed testimony

One gloomy spring afternoon I was walking through a door to the biggest shopping mall in my city. A lady stood there giving out flyers to people that passed by. flyer

As I walked by her, she greeted me and handed me one of the leaflets. The flyer contained an explanation of the Gospel and how to be born again.

To be honest, I don’t remember how the Gospel was presented. The only part that stayed in my memory to this day was her personal testimony. It was a short story about how God healed her of cancer.

I’m not saying that testimony is more important than the message of the Gospel. Personal testimony is a great way to introduce someone to the reality of the Kingdom of God.

Someone might argue with the message but no one can dispute an actual experience. A story of a supernatural event can shake-up the paradigm of an unbeliever and make his mind question. At this point, the heart is more ready to receive the Gospel.

After a few years, I printed my own booklet with some personal experiences. Time after time I saw people fascinated by God’s work. It opened many doors to share more.

Three Circles

I’m very thankful to the people that came up with this method. It’s simple, quick and engaging.

It’s different from the Roman Road method. Yet, it’s much more effective when you speak with illiterate people because everyone understands the language of images.

I’ve seen a number of people getting touched and deciding to commit their lives to Jesus. The number one response is: oh, that does make sense!

The video below shows the effectiveness better than I could.

Survey

When I was living in a student city, I came up with an idea to create a survey. I compiled some questions that I cared about, found an app, put everything together and went out.

The survey was a tool to approach people and start a conversation. The end goal wasn’t to get data but to engage with people.

When I saw someone walking without a rush I approached them. After shortly introducing myself and what I’m doing, I handed my phone with the survey app. While they were answering the questions, I was using this silent gap to pray.

Some people filled up the survey and walked away. They were not open to hear or speak about God and I didn’t force anything.

The most amazing thing was that others didn’t leave but asked me why am I doing this, what do I believe. I’ve had many fruitful conversations with people who were truly interested! Because of this approach, I grew in confidence.

Final words

The main thing I want to communicate is that no matter the situation there is a way or a method to share your faith.

Be creative. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you an idea. Make small steps and allow yourself to grow.
