Why Does Everyone Want to Be a Blogger?

Why Does Everyone Want to Be a Blogger?

"I wanted to be a blogger. I still do, sometimes.

The idea is intoxicating: share your thoughts, build an audience, earn money from anywhere, be your own boss.

But then I started writing. And I realised: it‘s not as easy as it looks.

So why do so many of us want it?"

1. We Want Freedom

No boss. No schedule. No office. Just you and your laptop on a beach somewhere.

It‘s the ultimate dream of independence. And it‘s sold to us every day on social media.

2. We Want to Be Heard

We all have opinions. We all have stories. Blogging gives us a platform — a chance to be seen and heard.

For some, it‘s about validation. For others, it‘s about connection

3. We Want Passive Income

The promise of 'earn while you sleep' is powerful. Write once, get paid forever.

It sounds like magic. And sometimes it is. But mostly, it‘s not.

4. We See Only the Highlight Reel

On social media, we see successful bloggers. We see their trips, their numbers, their freedom.

We don‘t see the years of writing for free. The rejections. The burnout. The 2 AM editing sessions.

5. It Looks Easier Than It Is

How hard can it be? You just write and post.

But writing is hard. Consistency is harder. Standing out in a sea of content is almost impossible.

6. The Real Reasons People Quit

Most bloggers quit within the first year. Why?

  • No audience
  • No money
  • No time
  • No motivation

It‘s not a failure. It‘s reality.

7. Should You Still Try?

Yes — if you love writing. Not for the money. Not for the fame. But because you have something to say.

If you write for yourself first, the rest might follow. But if you write only for the results, you‘ll burn out fast.

"We don‘t all want to be bloggers. We want what blogging promises: freedom, recognition, and money.

But those things don‘t come from blogging. They come from doing the work — every single day, for years."
