"I have 347 saved posts on Instagram. 89 bookmarked articles. 42 videos in my 'Watch Later' playlist.
And I‘ve read maybe 10 of them.
The rest are waiting. They‘ve been waiting for months. Some for years.
Why do we save things we never return to?"

1. Saving Feels Like Doing
When we save something, our brain gets a tiny reward. It feels like we‘ve accomplished something.
'I‘ll read this later' feels like progress. But it‘s not. It‘s just delayed action — that never happens.
2. We‘re Afraid of Missing Out
What if this article changes my life? What if this video teaches me something important?
We save it 'just in case.' But 'just in case' rarely comes.
3. We Have Too Much Content
There‘s more content than we could ever consume. Every day, thousands of new articles, videos, and posts appear.
We can‘t keep up. So we save things, hoping to catch up later. But later never comes.

4. The Illusion of Future Time
We think we‘ll have more time tomorrow. More energy. More focus.
But tomorrow looks exactly like today. And we save more things we‘ll never read.
5. The Guilt of Deleting
If we delete a saved article, we feel like we‘re losing something. Even if we never read it.
So we keep it. And the pile grows. And the guilt grows with it.
6. What I Do Now
I have a rule: if I don‘t read it within 3 days, I delete it.
It sounds harsh. But it works. If it was truly important, I would have read it by now.
7. It‘s Not About the Content — It‘s About Us
We save things because we want to be the kind of person who reads them. Curious. Informed. Productive.
But saving doesn‘t make us that person. Reading does.

"The bookmark graveyard is not a collection of knowledge. It‘s a collection of good intentions.
And good intentions don‘t teach us anything."
What About You?
"How many things have you saved but never read? Be honest.
Let me know in the comments — I‘d love to hear your number."
"If this article made you smile, leave a tip or a like — it keeps me writing honest content."
