All kinds of Web3 applications pop up all the time. Today I want to report on one particularly helpful one: ethermail.oi.
The frontend is basically an email client. You sign up with your MetaMask wallet (requires no gas) and get an email address with the format <WALLET_ADDRESS>@ethermail.io. From there on, you can send and receive emails as normal.
But here's the twist:
You get paid for reading each individual email!
Ethermail uses their native token $EMC. As of right now, $EMC is worth $0.01 according to Coinbase. Just by signing up you receive 50 $EMC - if you add a backup email address, you get another 200. That would be $2.5 in EMC just for signing up.
On the backend, Ethermail is backed by blockchain technology. Right, the entire emailing process is handled on-chain, with all the benefits this brings. You can read more on that on their website.
So what's there to lose - you get a blockchain backed email adress which you can unlock with your MetaMask wallet, and get the benefits of a crypto currency that (according to Coinbase) has been at stable $0.01 for at least one month. Signup takes about 2 minutes!
There really are all kinds of use-cases for blockchain technology!
