Publish0x as a true publishing platform
I have been monitoring the Publish0x platform for almost a month now and I have to admit that I am impressed in a very positive way. The idea behind it is a stroke of genius and I have high hopes for this platform and for its community. Rewarding the writers is nothing new, a lot of other platforms like Medium or Wordpress already do that, but rewarding the readers and making them engage in a unique way with the platform is something that I have never seen before.
From what I've seen you can get somewhere around $1 worth of cryptocurrency in a month just from reading, however that would mean never tipping more 20% to the authors, which I do not condone as I've seen that most articles published here are really well thought out and the people writing them have put hard work into them. While the money is definitely not much, it is not meant to make you rich, but rather to make you, as the reader, feel like your attention is valuable to the platform and every second spent here is worth something. In my opinion this the long-run strength that other upcoming publishing platforms lack.
What is the state of the platform now?📋
Right now, most of the articles are related to cryptocurrency and most of them provide really great analysis on the matter. I've read a couple and I found most of the tips provided there really helpful. While Publish0x is mainly focused on crypto content there are a lot of other publishing opportunities that most authors do not explore. The fact that there is a lack of variety of content on the platform I think puts Publish0x at a disadvantage in the face of other competitors like Steemit or Medium that have a lot more articles on things like travel or photography or programming. As this platform evolves, people that will see the value that it has will start posting more and more different types of articles on all kinds of topics.
This isn't to say that there are no such articles but they are much less visible and the volume is reduced compared to other platforms.
"So what are you posting?" 🤔
The way I perceive my role as an author on this platform at this moment is to try to diversify the content that is published. This blog will focus mainly on covering my own experiences with various aspects of the desktop Linux as well as covering things that I find interesting happening in the Linux and FOSS world. I believe that by doing this I will be able to attract a new kind of userbase to the platform while not alienating the current users as the discourse will still be in the technological sphere. I aim to be a part of the people that help grow this platform and community as the better alternative to traditional blogging platforms like the aforementioned Medium, which is notorious for not providing the writers the deserved financial recognition.
The future of this blog🚀
For the first couple of weeks I would like to publish exclusively Linux content and then maybe occasionally also dive a little bit into the programming category with some examples of how to do things (in Linux) like setting up an Apache server on different distributions or how to do Laravel migrations to a PostgreSQL database in a Linux environment.
While this kind of stuff sounds easy, and it is, I think that this content is especially helpful for beginners who are trying to setup their perfect Linux development environment.
After the blog grows, if it will grow, I will also dive into more advanced topics that are tailored to more experienced developers, but again this type of content will be rare since it is not the scope of this blog.
Thank you for the attention and I hope you will check my blog again in the future for the more Linux-y stuff. Spoiler! The next post will be about Flatpak and the pros and cons of the modern software packaging solutions.
