If You Minted BRC-20 Ordinals (like NFTs but on Bitcoin), Check Your Wallets! You May Have Hidden Value (-OR-a-Bitcoin-Angel-)
This is a tale of caution, a horror of heartbreak, a tale of truth, back in those heady early days of BRC-20s. It's about 36 "ANGELS," BRC-20 inscriptions minted with love and $7,562.92 during a Bitcoin dip at the dawn of the Ordinals protocol.
I, like many, was an early adopter, eager to explore this new frontier. Remember the thrill of those early airdrops? $DOG to the moon, the whispers of Rune Stones... I was so excited, practically vibrating with anticipation! I envisioned my ANGELS, my digital creations, as keys to unlock those treasures, a ticket to ride the rocket of this new technology.
But my journey took a dark turn when I innocently sent my ART to my Coinbase BTC (Bitcoin) wallet, along with some Bitcoin dust. I assumed, wrongly, I thought that the shared network meant a safe passage for my tokens. And then, just a month later, the airdrops happened. The very airdrops I had dreamed of, the ones my ANGELS were supposed to be a part of... gone.
Coinbase, the platform I trusted, betrayed that trust. My ANGELS vanished, swallowed by the darkness of "unsupported assets." But the blockchain, the immutable ledger of truth, told a different story. My ANGELS weren't lost; they were stolen.
On March 29th, 2024, Coinbase received my ANGELS on my btc receive address, a wallet I share custody with on their platform. On March 30th, at 7:00 AM EST, they moved them. My creations, my art, were transferred to addresses belonging to Bitcoin millionaires. One address, holding 69 million sats (satoshis), now guards 27 of my ANGELS. Even the website URL I inscribed, a link to my other projects, is trapped in this digital vault maze.
The remaining 9 ANGELS?🔥value-Burned as fees, lost in the wallets of the wealthy. For I never sold them; I was eagerly awaiting those airdrops, the promise of the BRC-20 future. Now, I'm left with nothing but a gaping hole where my excitement and anticipation once were. A void that echoes with the ghosts of stolen dreams and voices unheard.
Coinbase, you broke my heart with your "unsupported asset" WORDS, a cold, calculated response you give to many that ignores the blockchain's true evidence. You claim these assets are lost, but anyone who's dabbled in crypto knows what happens when you send coins to the wrong address or network – they remain stuck, irretrievable, FROZEN. Yet, my ANGELS were transferred, not once, but twice, from my custodial Coinbase platform receive address. And since BRC-20 tokens are unsupported on your platform, I, as a customer, had no way to move them myself. This leaves only one possibility: someone internally at Coinbase kidnapped my ANGELS.
This is my way of requesting, my cry of anguish, my way of venting this profound loss. To Coinbase: admit your mistake, return my Ordinals back, and restore my faith in your platform. To the unknown holders of my ART: if you have a heart, return the Art pieces to their creator the Btc genesis address is below. Their true value lies not in sats, but in the love and passion with which they were created during moments of great hardship in the artist's Life.
And to you, dear reader, Explore the wonders of Ordiscan, an amazing website that lets you track your BRC-20 Ordinals and uncover the hidden value of your rare sats – you might be sitting on a gold mine just 3 clicks away from gold! With Ordiscan, you can trace the history of your inscriptions, see where they've been, and even discover if they hold any special significance. And don't forget Xverse wallet, a powerful tool that allows you to import any seed phrase and discover hidden inscriptions, runes, and rare sats that might be lurking within. Who knows, you might even find a way to add value to your own BRC-20 collection, just like I was hoping to do with my angels. Just check your wallets, fellow BITCOIN enthusiasts. You might be holding onto hidden value, or worse, someone else's stolen dream.
I now get to see from a digital distance, one I cannot get into, my art gain value through time as Bitcoin soars to incredible heights. What will it be in 10 years from now? A testament to my loss, a monument to Coinbase's negligence, or perhaps, a beacon of hope that justice will prevail?
