Any logical person in the crypto market will tell you that $BTC is king. Look at any move to the downside in $BTC and careful observation shows that $BTC is king. However, this applies to the upside as well in a different but similar fashion. A significant move to the upside in $BTC usually indicates that $ALTS will eventually catch up to $BTC and in an Altcoin Season, many $ALTS will outperform $BTC. Many on crypto twitter will tell you that they own no $BTC because of this.

Regardless, the masses on crypto twitter including myself will joke about being “rugged by $BTC.” Heavy exposure to $ALTS will have any portfolio bleeding against $USD or $BTC/$ETH. There is a distinction to be made between $ALTS and $ETH. Post EIP-1559, $ETH has held up strong against both $BTC and $USD even though $BTC continues to consolidate as of now. Nonetheless, until the flipping occurs, $BTC will remain king over the entire market and it is necessary to follow it's movements in this market.
