Aptos Foundation is planning to incorporate Tether's stablecoin into SK Telecom's web3 product known as "T wallet" in an effort to broaden access to stablecoins using a platform that is already familiar to millions of SK Telecom's users.

A press statement issued by the foundation on Friday and sent to crypto.news said that the connection, which will be enabled by the PASS app developed by SK Telecom, would make it possible for users to use USDT on the Aptos blockchain with little friction, therefore bridging the gap between conventional banking and decentralized frameworks.

Oh Sehyeon, vice president of SK Telecom's web3 division, stated that the company shares a vision "with key web3 players like Tether to expand access to digital assets and decentralized networks to more people, informed by our decades of telco expertise." SK Telecom, the largest telecom operator in the country, views the partnership as being essential for the mainstream implementation of web3.

T wallet is being offered as a starting point for stablecoin use as a result of this agreement, which taps into the large customer base of over 30 million that SK Telecom represents.

Midway through the month of August, Tether announced that it will be adding support for the Aptos Network. The company highlighted the blockchain's "robust developer community" as a crucial cause for the expansion. Additionally, the company mentioned the network's "steady increase in deployed contracts, representative of active and ongoing development."

In addition to the development activities, Tether claims that the decision to add support for Aptos was inspired by the network's "extremely low gas fees." Tether also claims that the network is "economically viable for a wider range of use cases, ranging from microtransactions to large-scale enterprise operations."
