Satoshi-era Bitcoin wallet moves 2,000 BTC for the first time since 2010

On Nov. 15, the "Satoshi-era wallet" sent roughly $180 million in BTC to Coinbase.

On-chain data from Lookonchain indicates the whale hodled for 14 years. That suggests the miner held while Bitcoin was below 10 cents. Bitcoins generated by Satoshi Nakamoto while online are worth approximately $90,000 due to quick adoption.

Satoshi-era coins have been moving faster in Bitcoin, with their transfer to exchanges frequently signaling a sale. Old coins have moved in the past, especially during bull markets, but the market seems unaffected.

A 15-year-old wallet woke up in September and transferred 250 BTC mined in 2009. A 2014 inactive Bitcoin wallet transferred 174 bitcoins valued almost $10 million in August.

Dormant whales made one of their greatest migrations in May 2024. Inactive wallets transferred 1,000 bitcoins valued over $60 million after 11 years.

These statistics show what hodling implies, yet they pale in comparison to the huge 2,000 BTC a whale from those early days recently moved.

These Satoshi-era miner wallets show how far BTC has come, even if millions of bitcoins are gone forever. Huge exchange deposits might temporarily affect the benchmark crypto asset.

With bulls in command and a possible U.S. strategic Bitcoin reserve, experts think BTC will reach $100k next. Spot ETFs, a worldwide “crypto race” as more nations embrace the flagship digital currency, and MicroStrategy's $42 billion BTC purchasing objective are positive long-term.
