WazirX's reorganization plan gets Singaporean court green light
In a post that was published on X on October 13, Nischal Shetty, the co-founder and CEO of WazirX, made the announcement that the restructuring plan of the firm had been authorized by the Singapore High Court. The legal impasse that had been going on for many months has finally come to an end, and this is a significant milestone in the continuing efforts of the exchange to recover from the collapse that occurred in 2024.
Please accept my gratitude to everyone who has supported WazirX throughout this challenging moment. It was written by the CEO that the program had been authorized by the Singapore High Court.
The approval represents a change in the view that the court had previously taken. A prior application was turned down by the same court in September, citing concerns over justice and the viability of the project. This verdict had been met with severe criticism from the exchange's creditors, many of whom accused officials of delaying repayments and concealing themselves behind legal procedures.
A cyberattack that occurred in July 2024 and was related to North Korea's Lazarus Group included the cryptocurrency exchange that was headquartered in India. The hack resulted in a loss of around $230 million. Because to the security breach, approximately half of the company's assets were destroyed, and thousands of users were prevented from accessing their cash.
Since that time, WazirX has made a number of attempts to restructure its business, with the most recent proposal garnering substantial backing from the company's creditors. It is now possible to go on with its restructuring plan thanks to the approval of the Singapore court, which provides the necessary legal framework.
Predictions for the price of XRP: whales are gathering, and a breakthrough is on the horizon?
XRP price prediction algorithms have been put to the test over the last few days as the cryptocurrency has gone on a wild ride, plunging from over $2.80 to as low as $1.64 before rebounding into the mid-$2 level. The sudden volatility shook leveraged traders, but long-term investors were able to step in.
Major participants see the correction is temporary rather than systemic, as shown by the discounted levels of whale accumulation. Despite mixed feelings, XRP is consolidating between $2.35 and $2.45. The next week might be crucial for the market's mood and the broader prognosis for XRP.
The corporation previously said that trade may restart within 10 business days of the program going into operation, but it has not given any precise implementation timetables. This implies that WazirX may soon start paying back users, resuming business, and implementing other corrective actions.
In the meanwhile, the exchange is still under legal pressure in India. The Delhi High Court is looking into its previous dealings with Binance, which first claimed control of the platform but then denied it. The wider recovery process is further complicated by this issue, since creditors are still want a Special Investigation Team to look into the 2024 hack and hold those accountable.
Although it is unclear whether the exchange will be able to fulfill financial obligations and restore confidence, the Singapore court's ruling is nonetheless a significant step.
