As President-elect Donald Trump prepares for a second term, his administration has selected numerous crypto-friendly executives.

Republican voters who believed the Biden administration waged a “war on crypto” are likely delighted. Trump is the first elected figure to sell digital money.

The U.S. has considerable cryptocurrency knowledge, but most Americans are uninterested. Pew Research found that 63% of Americans had little to no trust that existing means to invest in, trade, or utilize cryptocurrencies are dependable and secure.

With the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission set for an overhaul and a slate of cryptocurrency proponents (mentioned below) competing for cabinet or council seats, crypto cronyism in the executive branch is here, whether Americans like it or not.

Veteran bitcoin enthusiast Scott Bessent is Trump's Treasury Secretary candidate. The former Soros Fund Management CIO made news by encouraging bitcoin to transform finance, linking it with Republican values of freedom and creativity.

The 62-year-old hedge fund manager has distanced crypto's future from Sam Bankman-Fried, casting Bitcoin as a unifying economic potential for younger generations disillusioned by established markets.

The Treasury under Bessent would undoubtedly shake up digital assets and limit the possibility of punitive tariffs.

Trump's Commerce Secretary nominee, Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick, is allegedly in negotiations with Tether, the biggest stablecoin operator, to lead a $2 billion financing project.

Lutnick, who led Cantor Fitzgerald into crypto trading, is adept at mixing finance and new technology. The Tether alliance might increase capital access and stablecoins' involvement in global financial institutions under Lutnick's leadership.

Trump’s bold plan to form the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) has garnered attention from crypto bulls who want to lead.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, a Dogecoin supporter, and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy must cut $2 trillion from Medicare and Social Security. Ramaswamy proposes abolishing agencies.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse congratulated Trump for choosing Bessent as “Treasury Sec.” Garlinghouse is a key participant in Trump's crypto plan. He may have had some influence in hiring choices after meeting with Trump's close entourage.

Garlinghouse wants a Senate digital asset market structure bill and the ouster of SEC Chair Gary Gensler.

Trump spoke with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, according Reuters. Armstrong reportedly wants to join Trump's Bitcoin and crypto presidential advisory group, however it's unclear what they talked.

Armstrong is expressing his leadership preferences. He suggested replacing Gensler with SEC commissioner Hester Peirce, called “Crypto Mom” in the crypto realm, who has criticized Gensler's crackdown earlier this month.

When Peirce is unavailable, Republican SEC commissioner Mark Uyeda joined up with her to criticize the agency for “misguided and overreaching” crypto company prosecutions.

Crypto business Circle CEO Allaire wants to join the council. The New York Times reports that Allaire and other crypto experts are pressuring Trump's staff for additional details.

Allaire was thrilled when Trump declared he didn't like Bitcoin in 2019.
