CyberChess NFT Game Review | Free to Play | Binary X on BNB

By Prin Seu | The Blockchain Gamer | 25 Oct 2022

Hey guys! It’s time for another NFT Game review.

Today, we’ll be discussing an upcoming free-to-play, play-to-earn game called CyberChess. This game is launched by the gamefi development platform Binary X backed by Binance Lab.

Cyberchess

CyberChess offers people on Web3.0 new ways to engage with the world of GameFi: putting your critical thinking ability to test, resources management, and requiring diversity in strategies to achieve victory in the game. Here, players can become the commander and line up with troops. Cyber heroes can combine at will on the grid battlefield to launch battles and defeat the enemy.

GAMEPLAY

CyberChess is an auto battler-based play-to-earn game. Players are assigned to a random set of heroes each round. But players also get to purchase heroes from the hero pool and place them on their side of the board.

There are 7 different hero classes here in the game. And each class has 4 different abilities and players can make adjustments according to their own strategies and preference. There’s the warrior, knight, Rogue, Ranger, Mage, Priest, and Druid.

Druid Cyber Chess

Each player chooses from a selection of 5 random heroes at the start of every round. Every unit of hero cost 1 gold. Players can spend their gold on heroes and place them on the board to battle. The bought heroes are placed in the player’s “reserve” area. They must be moved from the “reserve” onto the board to battle against another opponent. Heroes with higher stars have better basic attributes such as more health, damage, defense, etc.

Skill is a major factor that determines the match result.  It is unique to each hero, and each hero has 4 different abilities. Players can obtain skills for their heroes from the Altar/Marketplace. Every player starts with 5 health points. When the health point reaches 0, the player will be considered defeated. The game is won by the last player that is still standing.

An entire match consists of three different phases: Preparation, Assemble, and Battle.

At the beginning of the match, each player will be granted 5 golds and 5 additional base gold at the end of each round. In this phase, every player has 30 seconds to prepare before getting into battle.

A player could perform the following actions during this phase:

-Purchase Hero from Hero Pool and additional stance.

-Move Hero from the “reserve” area onto the board.

-Players can sell heroes to make way for new heroes.

-Lock Hero Pool until the next round or Click on Hero to Check Stats and Skills.

Assemble Phase is the 5 seconds buffer time between Preparation Phase and Battle Phase.

The Battle Phase lasts for only 30 seconds. A player will match against a random opponent in this phase.

There are actually two game modes here, the arena which is the solo ranked ladder, and the Ranked match which is the 8 Man P2E I’ve mentioned earlier.

In Rank Match mode, a player will need to fight against 7 other players on a chess board. The last man standing wins and receive $BNX as a reward.  Before getting into the battle, every player must have at least 5 heroes in possession to start a Ranked Match in CyberChess. Each round, the player will match against a random player, and losing the fight will reduce your health, reaching 0 means you’re out of the game

CyberChess Arena Mode, on the other hand, is a competitive mode where a leaderboard is in place. The player can climb the ranked ladder in this game mode. As players complete matches, the match result will influence their standing on the leaderboard. You just have to set up your team composition beforehand and challenge another player. Players will go up the leaderboard if they win and fall in ranking if they lose! The top 150 players get rewarded on a weekly basis and the ladder refreshes weekly.

Aside from that, there will be daily login rewards, a daily task system, and a one-time achievement system.

So in the first month of launch, there will already be 50,000 in prizes to be earned. This will be distributed first, to the Top 150 players on the leaderboard on the arena mode, rank match bonus and there will even be cashback for gold purchase in the first month. That means all the time and effort exerted by the players will be reciprocated.

BINARY X

Now, let’s talk about the company behind CyberChess, BinaryX. Initially, BinaryX was a decentralized derivative trading protocol but has since changed its concept to accommodate the boom in the GameFi sector. Now it is a crypto game platform listed on Binance and Gate.io. It is actually a large on-chain online game platform on BNB chain. BinaryX stated that its vision was to become the most inventive GameFi project and bring more innovation to the blockchain gaming sector.

I may have mentioned that Cyber Chess is an upcoming game but this is not the first game of Binary X. They are behind other play-to-earn games such as CyberArena and CyberDragon - which is a classic MMORPG with DeFi elements.

The platform has already achieved several milestones after a year. They’ve been Top 2 in GameFi Area on BNB Chain, Top 5 in Active Wallet Addresses on BNB with over 10K BNX holders just three months after the launch of their game Cyberdragon.

And although the GameFi market mood has been uncertain since the end of 2021, resulting in token prices steeply trending to the downside, BinaryX’s Token increased 8x from its lowest point to $147 on June 14. This upward swing began after the game made an upgrade in March that included new gameplay plus a new minting and upgrading mechanism for NFTs.

TOKENOMICS

BinaryX has a multi-token economic model, the main platform token is the BNX, and dual sub-tokens are Gold and Crystal. BNX is a BEP-20 token on the Binance Smart Chain. BNX was audited by Certik and received an excellent security score of 83.

As the BinaryX platform token, BNX can be used as a settlement unit in all its games and applications, and as a governance token, BNX can be used to secure the voting rights of DAOs in the platform.

Gold is used in BinaryX's games and applications, such as hero upgrades, treasure chest purchases, dungeon tickets, etc. In the Cyber Chess game, Gold is the main resource in the game, automatically given at the end of each round. And this could be used to buy heroes, manually re-roll heroes, and for additional stances. Aside from getting 5 base gold for every round, it could be earned by selling heroes whose price will be completely equal to its cost. Also, there will be 20% interest income on the current gold coins.

TEAM AND ROADMAP

The developers behind BinaryX are anonymous, although, in an interview with Binance, they revealed that they were a team made up of international backgrounds and a number of senior blockchain experts. Supposedly, the team members have experience with building centralized and decentralized exchanges, as well as with managing derivative assets of more than $100 million.

From the website, they say the core team members are from Silicon Valley and participated in the development of the early BNB Chain and Polkadot chain, and have made outstanding contributions to the development of the industry.

As per their development roadmap, their first game Cyber Dragon is released last August 2021. The Binary X DAO is launched just January of this year. Quarter 2 is when the Cyber series FREE card game CyberArena was launched.

Their third game CyberChess will be released this September. But they are not stopping there, Quarter 4 - the Cyber series CyberLand will be launched, a unique metaverse world of CyberDragon, land auctions, a castle system, and team dungeons.

The team says although they are definitely happy with their achievements so far, they are not yet satisfied. They say this is only the beginning for Binary X and there are much more goals to be achieved.

Thankful for the trust that they have received and after listening to the comments and feedback shared by the community, Binary X promises that their latest game, CyberChess, offers everything users asked for -a firmer structure, greater playability, and the most complete mechanism of any game that they have ever done.

If you want to know more about Cyberchess, Binary x, or even their other games,  you could join their social media channels and meet their lovely community who is more than happy to assist you along the journey.

And that’s it for now! Let us know your thoughts about CyberChess in the comments below.
