Splinterlands is a digital trading card game where you can collect, trade, or battle other players using NFT cards to get DEC tokens and the newly released SPS tokens.

In this post, we're gonna go over some aspects of the game, how to start, how to earn, and is it worth playing.

If you look at the game, you may think of it as a typical card game such as Yu Gi Oh, Hearthstone, or Magic: The Gathering

And you're right, they have some similarities, but there are also huge differences at the same time.

One of those is the automated battles in Splinterlands.

Once you've set your cards for a match, the battle will automatically play out

The game is focused on battle preparation.

you will choose your summoner, and monster cards then you just need to watch and see who is going to win

And if you win the match, you will get rating points and also crypto.

But what are the ways to earn in Splinterlads?

WAYS TO EARN

You can get two types of tokens in the game Splinterlands

First is the Dark Energy Crystals or DEC tokens, and the newly release Splinter Shards SPS tokens

Let us first talk about the different ways to get DEC tokens.

1 - Battles

The main way of earning DEC tokens is by winning battles.

Each battle you win will earn you DEC depending on your level, the level of your enemy, and your capture rate.

You'll get higher DEC tokens when the capture rate is high.

The capture rate will decrease continuously while you are winning and it will regenerate after a few hours.

At first, you will only receive few tokens per win.

But as you go up in rankings, it will also go up.

2 - By selling cards

Another way of earning is by selling cards.

You will earn DEC tokens for all the card sales.

There are some cards that are worth only a few cents, but the higher level cards and rare cards can reach thousands of dollars.

Keep in mind that these cards are also NFT and the value goes up as time passes.

The initial value that I invest for cards is only $70

But after just 10 days, some of the cards I bought went up to 3 to 4 times in value

Because of a sudden increase in exposure of the game to other investors and gamers.

3 - Daily & Season Chest Rewards

Every day, all the players get quests so they can earn chests where you can get DEC tokens, potions, cards, or even card packs.

There will also be season chest rewards every 15 days that will give more chests.

And the reason why it's very rewarding to get good in playing the game and reach the higher rankings is that apart from more DEC tokens you can get per battle, the daily and season chest rewards will also multiply.

Just think if you got lucky on a pull and a gold card pops up

So it has an online lotto as well lol.

Always remember: more chest, more chances of winning

4 - Joining Tournaments

There are also tournaments with minimal entry fees that are happening every day where it is possible to earn a huge amount of money instantly if you are confident with your deck and skills.

Take note that the matches are more competitive in tournaments since the players who will join, will also want to get the prize.

Those are the ways to earn DEC tokens, but there is a new token that you can get in-game which is the SPS token

Unfortunately, there is still no info on how you can earn them by playing and it's not been integrated into the game

But if we look at the whitepaper of the token it is clearly stated that there are 900 million SPS* tokens that are allotted for play-to-earn rewards so we can expect an update soon.

Now, what is a 'Spellbook'?

The Spellbook is needed to get the potential rewards that I have mentioned earlier

If you don't have this, you will not earn anything in-game.

So to say, this is the entrance fee for the game that you need to pay for you to get started

The easiest way to buy this is through PayPal payment.

But if you don't have a PayPal account, don't worry, because you can pay using Visa or MasterCard.

To give you a bit of an example, my current rank is Gold 2 and I got here within 10 days

The DEC tokens per match I gain when I have a high capture rate is 90-100

The daily chest in Gold 2 I receive is 7 per day.

CLOSING

Splinterlands is a fun and rewarding game.

Yes, it has automated card gameplay that can be surprised me at first I will admit that I got turned off because of the automated nature of the battles

But as I kept playing, I realized that it requires strategy and wit to win and to go up on rankings where you can get bigger rewards.

I can say that this is a good supplement game that you can play on the side that doesn't require too much attention once you get the hang of it.

You"ll never know, you may even get some rare gold foil cards one day while playing.

I also think that there will be upcoming updates on the game soon especially because of the SPS token release which may offer more earning opportunities for the players.
