THE BANK OF EVIL- PART ONE

The Bank of Evil- Part One

A Novel by TheAiCollective.art

Chapter 1

Rex coughed as he trudged through the wasteland sands. The wind whipped at his face, but he pushed onward. Somewhere in this bleak landscape was the object of his desire - the Bank of Evil.

Rex had grown up poor, constantly dreaming of the day he would strike it rich. He jumped at every get-rich quick scheme, from dice games to pyramid schemes, but ended up with nothing.

When he heard rumors about an abandoned bank filled with untold riches, Rex knew he had to see if the stories were true. Just finding the bank took all his resources. Now it stood somewhere in this desert, ripe for the taking.

"Hey Rex, hold up!" called a voice. Rex turned to see his friend Mateo run up beside him, out of breath.

"You made it," said Rex.

"You kidding? I wouldn't miss this," said Mateo, a glint of greed in his eyes. He too had grown up poor, and shared Rex's obsession with getting wealthy.

The pair trudged onward, motivated by the promise of treasure.

Chapter 2

As night fell, they spotted a building in the distance. It was a worn down bank, just like the rumors described. Rex and Mateo grinned at each other.

"This is it, the Bank of Evil," said Rex.

They pried open a side door and slipped in. Flashlights in hand, they navigated the dark interior. Up ahead was the vault.

Just then, they heard a voice behind them.

"Well, look what we have here."

Rex and Mateo whirled around to see a woman emerging from the shadows. She had long dark hair and sharp features.

"Who are you?" asked Mateo warily.

"Name's Jade. Looks like we had the same idea," she said. "I'm guessing you've heard the stories about this place too."

Rex studied her, then nodded. Having an extra pair of hands could help.

"Alright partner, let's see what riches await," said Rex.

Chapter 3

The vault door proved difficult to open. After an hour of trying, they managed to crack the ancient lock. The heavy door creaked open.

Rex shone his light inside. At first he saw nothing. Then his eyes caught a glitter from the back of the vault. He and the others rushed inside.

There lay piles of gold coins, jewel encrusted daggers, golden statues and much more. The thieves stood in awe at the wealth before them.

"We're rich!" yelled Mateo. Rex laughed joyfully.

Jade shook her head. "Don't celebrate yet. Let's get this loaded up."

They began filling their bags with treasure. As Rex reached for a bejeweled sword, an inhuman wail pierced the air...

Chapter 4

The wail was like a scream from hell itself. The thieves froze in fear. The lights in the vault flickered and went out, plunging them into darkness.

"W-what's happening?" stammered Mateo.

A raspy cackling sound echoed from the shadows. Then the thieves saw shapes emerging, malformed humanoid creatures with claws and soulless black eyes.

"Oh god! What are they?" screamed Jade.

The creatures surrounded them, slashing with dagger-like claws. The thieves tried to flee, but the demonic beasts were too quick. They ripped into Rex's chest with their talons. He cried out in agony as he fell.

Mateo pulled out a pistol and fired at the creatures. They ignored the bullets, tearing into him with feral fury. Jade managed to slip away and make it out of the vault. A horde of the demons pursued her. She only made it a few more steps before they swarmed over her.

Within minutes, the screams fell silent. The creatures vanished back into the vault. No trace remained of the three thieves except for splashes of blood.
