Pure Sweet Chaos

By Cje95 | Texas Boy in a DC World | 22 May 2021

To say I have been inundated with chaos might be an understatement and while I knew it was going to be hectic right now I could not have prepared for this. Previously I had written about how my former roommate had been transferred from the Washington, DC office we work in, to the district office back in Texas. This meant that I was going to be changing apartments as I had no need for a two-bedroom apartment for just myself. It also would have been way too expensive for my intern salary/really nonexistent salary.

In preparation for my move, my dad flew in from Texas to help me out with my mom following suit and flying in earlier today. The plan was I would be moving out from the 19th to the 21st and I had set up appointments with cable and internet to follow this plan. Since I still have my internship going on and I am currently the only intern in the office this week as the next batch does not start till next Monday he was going to help me slowly move things from one apartment to another without just throwing stuff places. Well, when my dad called to get the key to begin moving on the 19th the leasing agent we have been working with asked us if there was any way I could be completely moved out by the end of the 20th. My dad agreed and did not want to worry me so he did not tell me until it was hours after he agreed.

Like I am sure you can expect this led to pure chaos. My well-laid-out plan went straight out the window and the race against the clock was on. Not only that but with the recent issues in the Gaza Strip and Israel the phones have been crazy and my Congressman was hosting an event to feed breakfast to a bunch of National Guard members. This has had me running nonstop since the 19th and only finally getting to catch my breath this afternoon. There has been so much news and huge developments I have wanted to write about on here that I have just not had time for sadly.

Luckily though I am moved into my new apartment. My furniture will not arrive till June 1st so I currently have the little bit of bedroom stuff I had had but I do not have anything for the living room besides a TV that is getting mounted today. I am a little bit worried about what my parents will do now that they are both at my apartment and I am at home..... It is a little iffy on how much and what all they will move...... it is the one downside to their help is how they arrange things!

Lastly, job searching just went straight off the rails this week as I have not had any time whatsoever to do anything with this. This next week is my last week and I honestly have no firm plans or idea on what I will be doing the following week. This move has effectively wiped out a huge chunk of my internship and it really sucks. I have been so busy after work I have not been able to really network at all plus for the first couple of months everything was locked down tight here.

Chaos has been running rampant and has been killing my health this last week. Since the rough going of the second COVID vaccine, I have been on the run try to just get everything I need to done. Hopefully, soon I will either hear back about a job or an internship since that is causing me huge amounts of anxiety not knowing what is going on. It will be really nice to see my mom again and my friends that are coming up from Virginia today give myself a little break to enjoy life a little bit up here.
