TikTok : The brain rotter

By Ph03nix | Tech hall of shame | 9 Dec 2025

Around every 10 years social media always changes.

I feel old because I remember Myspace.

Then came facebook, instagram, etc.

Suddenly we got a whole new genre of both social media and entertainment.

"Short form videos"

Short form videos give your brain enough time to recognize but not process. You get the dopamine rush, but you don't get to think.

This reinforcement of "brain crack" has led to another whole new genre.

"Brain Rot".

Many times these videos don't even contain proper English. We have things such as skidibi toilet that should not logically exist.

Children who watch these have that gibberish reinforced instead of proper language. They get taught through reinforced learning not to think.

It's very similar to when I was in detention, and they made me write on the chalkboard over and over "I will not talk in class".

Things like this are also a depressant. If you look at studies on alcoholism, and how recovery works you start to see a lot of similarities. Same with Bromide poisoning actually.

I will put it simple in average Joe terms. I aint a doctor. Most of us aint.

Very similar to drugs and alcohol.

The brain excites itself to balance out the depressant. When you remove the depressant the brain still excites itself thinking it will get more to balance that.

Suddenly you have an overexcited brain. In the case of Bromide poisoning and Alcoholism withdrawals you get hallucinations, and sick to the point of possibly kicking the bucket. In the case of Bromide the reaction is similar but far more severe than both.

I have gone through the alcohol withdrawals. They sucked.

Many studies have been done. They all look grim.

When you take the brain rot away the depressant is gone. Suddenly that "over excited brain" becomes a psychotic problem.

The person may become violent. Their cognitive judgment has already been impaired through reinforce learning.

We don't know yet the long term effects. If it's a child, damage done early can last a lifetime.

I am saying this as a former teacher, expert in technology, and someone who has been watching it all close, out of concern for those around me.

Parents: If you care about your child, do not do what half my generation did. Take the IPhone and IPad away please. The damage might be permanent if you don't. The damage is intentional and expert crafted.
Many of my posts will show that the main victims of "Big tech" are kids because it's easier to prey on the weak. It's not a bias of mine. It's something that makes me sad.
