And so my travels into the world of Crypto continue.
After much time and effort I finally got an account verified on Binance and can now purchase some crypto using a debit card I'd arranged for playing in the crypto space. This is a double edged sword as it opens up an opportunity to use Fiat funds to invest but also opens up the temptation to do so.
Up till now all of my efforts learning and playing in the Crypto space has been with what is, for all intents and purposes, free money earned via faucets or the old PC using nice-hash. I note that the running cost of the PC probably makes it uneconomical really but its not a huge cost and it's provided me with some crypto to play with and explore the space.
Anyway, I follow a number of YouTube channels and try to see what's going on in the Crypto space and what other people seem to be playing with and came across this channel: "The Bartertown Conglomorate" and I've watched a number of their videos. One that piqued my interest today was about a site called cryptominer.finance and investing into a coin called Hex.
There are a number of similar sites but the original one is in BNB and since I don't have a lot of BNB I didn't think that was a good space to play in. However this new one had a good "story" told on YouTube and for some reason felt like something I could try. Hex at the time of writing is about USD 0.40 so I felt I could do a solid investment and give it a shot.
So before I go further, if this sounds interesting at all to you give it a shot with my referral link:

So why is it interesting?
- Hex has been around for a while; Apparently it's a coin designed to increase in value (mine) based on time held to reflect the time value of money.
- This guy and his YouTube channel suggest that they look into these sorts of sites/programmes/coins and have done well with them;
- The proposition is to earn 3% on your amount invested every day and you can compound/withdraw when you want (minus gas fees).
- It's on the polygon network (which I've had some interest in for a while as some games are running on it).
So I'm really hoping it doesn't fall apart like the faucet sites, I tried previously (Duplinow/Bananacash) but looking at the amount others have apparently invested and research around similar contracts it felt like something that might work out.
With this and a small balance I had on the debit card I was able to do the following:
-invest in about 105 Matic (polygon) - this cost just a shade over 100 USD.
-it was fairly simple to set up POLYGON on METAMASK using Chainlist.org.
-I got a bit stuck cos then I needed to get some Hex - using the telegram for Cryptominer.finance they advised that the easiest way was to use https://quickswap.exchange/#/swap
- I converted enough Matic to get 100 hex which left me with about 8 Matic on my metamask for gas fees.
- I then went to Cryptominer.finance and authorised it to spend up to 251 hex (step 1 on their page) and then purchase the 250 hex worth of miners on their page (step 2).
This all worked really easily and now I can officially say I've invested some real money into the crypto space (excluding the 10USD on Splinterlands)!!!
Scary? Yes...
Working? So far...
Based on 3% per day earnings its about a month to get the balance back (a shade faster if I compound on the way).
It's early days and I'll probably be a bit stressed till I get a decent part returned and back onto Binance but if it works out I'll be very happy after a month!
So thats that - give it a try if you want to take a risk... do your own research first and don't put in more than you can afford to lose!
