We see quite a few posts of crypto earnings from regular posters, and I always find them fascinating and inspirational. But most appear to be from people who are serious investors, with either lots of cash to invest or lots of time to spend to generate crypto income. The results can be impressive !
I'm not in the same league as those guys ! I'll give you a bit of background, so you understand my profile. I'm in the UK, where average earnings are good, but the cost of living is quite high.
I've been active in crypto for a little over a year, and although I'm lucky enough (or organised enough...) to have £100-£200 a month to invest, I haven't built up the huge stacks some investors have.
Time is definitely the biggest constraint, which is why I describe myself as a casual user. I own a small e-commerce business, which is hugely time-consuming, so I tend to have a maximum of an hour a day to spend doing crypto-related things. Usually that's at the end of the day, when I'm feeling very tired and ready for bed, so my brain isn't always firing on all cylinders at that time !
Anyway, on to August earnings.....
I'll use GBP (British Pounds), and add the US Dollar value in brackets. To give you a basis, the exchange rate at the end of month was £1.00 = $1.16 and BTC closed at around £17347 ($20122). Unlike the guys with huge stacks, I don't do all the trading and DeFi lending - with time being so limited, it's going to take me a long time to learn enough that I'd be anything other than a liability to myself !
Coinbase Earn - £5.04 ($5.85) - from HOPR and ALEPH. In both cases, I converted it into ALGO as soon as it became available. Why ALGO ? Well I've got a bit, and it's fallen so far since it's ATH that I reckon it's more likely to go up than down. I'm gradually working to build up enough in Coinbase (through converted Learn & Earn etc) that it's worth transferring onto my Ledger.
BAT - £3.57 ($4.14). This is down a bit on previous months, but mainly because BAT's close price was down at £0.29. Brave is my preferred browser, so this level of BAT accumulated tells me I'm maybe spending too much time online.....
Publish0X - £0.44 ($0.51) - all from upvoting, I really should try to actually publish posts here as well as reading what others put the time into creating ! The move to include ETH as one of the rewards definitely got me coming here regularly again after a bit of a lapse.
LBRY £0.02 ($0.02). I may stop tracking this soon, they've cut the watch rewards on Odysee at the same time as the price has tanked, so it's unlikely I'll ever get to the point where I've got enough to withdraw it, unless I actually start posting video content.
HIVE £21.69 ($25.16) - a mix of author rewards, curation rewards and earnings from delegations. My top earner, and the one I have the most fun doing ! I am not exactly a prolific poster, but I'm trying to do more without putting too much pressure and extra stress on myself (again, the casual user thing !)
HBD £16.78 ($19.47) - a healthy earner. 6.21 HBD was interest, the rest author rewards which I moved across to savings. I just keep building it up, although it will be a long time indeed before I'm any kind of whale there !
LEO £2.53 ($2.93) - most of this came from delegation rewards, although I'm trying to interact more directly within LeoFinance. This is another long game, I appreciate that although I'm working hard to grow my LEO stack, it'll be a while before the curation rewards I can get are noticeable.
Other Tribe Tokens - £0.96 ($1.12) - I actively track 6 tokens, which are still mostly at dust levels (PIZZA and EDS/EDSMM are the exceptions). But their earnings are steadily growing, especially now I'm delegating a whole bunch of totally dust tokens to LOLZ.
TOTAL - £51.04 (59.21).
So from a whole bunch of different sources, with both time and the size of my stack limited, and with crypto prices at a relatively low level I reckon this is a decent result.
From a UK earnings perspective, it's a minor side hustle. But crypto is a great equaliser and I appreciate that in some parts of the world, this amount would be a decent contribution towards monthly income. Most importantly, it's nice to have a fun hobby which has the potential to grow to a decent revenue stream or savings account in the long term. If I can do this with the time constraints I have, I reckon anyone should be able to !
