“Dumbo Mosaic” is one of my most favourite guppy strains. Also, it is one of the hardest to attain because it is cultivated in my country mainly for export. You can rarely see it in pet shops. Ones that are in the pet shop are mostly tank clearances or culled ones. So it is hard to get a good pair of them. But still, if you manage to get a decent pair from a tank clearance, you can still get good offspring from them. At least that was the plan when I saw some mosaic guppies in our local pet shop. Most of them had torn tails, which indicates a culled lot. But I managed to find a decent pair and purchased them.
Because they are a high-value fish, I wanted to separate them from other guppies I have so that I can have a clean offspring. So I placed them inside my zebra danio tank. They were doing ok for a few days. But today I found the female dead, lying at the bottom. I don't know the cause of death. Maybe fast-moving danios have something to do with that. Maybe the male guppy itself is the culprit. Only thing I know for sure is I have to buy a few more fishes next time I see mosaic guppies and place them in a completely separate tank to see if they gonna not only survive, but thrive as well. If you have dealt with dumbo mosaic guppies in the past and have tips and tricks about raising them please leave them in the comments below. Thanks.
