When I was watching a YouTube video yesterday, a comment in the comments section got my attention. So I opened the comment section and then I saw some similar spammy generic replies from dozens of accounts. So I opened one of them and saw that it(the account) was created a few hours ago. Surely they are bots and must be for unethical activities.
As you can see, they are trying to post comments that can be relevant to any video on the platform, as they are saying things like "thanks for the video, keep up the good work, interesting video". Even though these types of comments can come from real users, you can see there is a pattern. All the accounts have a picture of a half-naked woman as the profile picture. probably AI-generated. To me, it looks like they are trying to get attention from a certain group of people. And all of those YouTube accounts had a link to a one specific channel. In that channel's description, there was a link to a link in the bio tool website. I stopped there, so I don't risk getting malware. I suspect that tool may include links to various scam campaigns.
I've seen similar tactics in the past by scammers to bait people into their own channels where they promote scamy stuff like return guaranteed investments and meme coins and etc Also, I've seen some bots trying to figure out private information from banned words in comments. The question is, why YouTube doesn't do anything to remove these bots from the platform? What is your take on this? Feel free to comment down below.
And until next time, stay safe on the Internet.
