A young farmer was rowing his boat up the river, all sweaty, to take his goods to the village. While looking ahead, he saw another boat coming towards him very fast.

He rowed as hard as he could to move away, but it didn't make a difference. He yelled, "Watch out! You're going to crash into me!" but nobody listened. The boat crashed into his with a loud bang. He shouted, "You're so stupid! How could you hit me in the middle of this wide river?" As he glared into the boat, trying to find who was responsible, he realized there was nobody there. He had been yelling at an empty boat that had come loose and was floating downstream with the current.

We act differently when we think someone else is in control. We blame that person when bad things happen and get angry. But when we realize it's just an empty boat, we stay calm. There's no one to blame, so we accept that it's just bad luck. We might even laugh at the silly idea of an unmanned boat crashing into us in a big river. The lesson is, there's never anyone in the other boat. We're always yelling at an empty boat. The boat is not trying to hurt us and the people who bother us are not deliberately trying to ruin our day.

There's always a person at work who interrupts you during meetings. He believes he's smarter than everyone, not just you. But guess what? He's like an empty boat. There's nothing inside that makes him better than you or anyone else. Don't let his behavior bother you. He's not worth your frustration.

Think about the most annoying person you've ever met, the one who always makes you feel bad or angry. Do you think that person loses any sleep over you? Probably not. So, who's the one suffering? It's likely you. Getting angry at people for being themselves is as silly as getting angry at a chair for being a chair. It's just not worth it.Living life with a light heart is more valuable than being consumed by revenge.
