Sticker Guy Devlog Update:
Hey strangers 👋 Here I am again, sharing another blog update on my progress with Sticker Guy — the browser-based game I’ve been building using Three.js..
So what’s this all about?
It’s more than just a game. It’s an experience. When someone buys a sticker, they’ll also get a collectible fragment hidden inside — something they can use in the game. How do they collect it? Well... that part’s still a secret 😅 We haven’t fully integrated the mechanic yet, but I promise it’s coming.
3D Progress (Even If I’m Still Learning)
I’m only about three months into learning 3D software, so I’m not a pro yet — but I’ve managed to grab a free animated character online that closely resembles my actual design. It’s just for prototyping, but the bone rig and animation setup will help me rig my real character once it’s ready.
Simulating Real-Time Sun Transitions
One thing I’m proud of: I successfully simulated a sun orbit that transitions from day to night every minute. Eventually, this will sync with real-world time based on my country’s timezone — so if it’s morning here, the scene will show morning; if it’s midnight, you’ll see a night scene. It’s a small touch, but it adds realism and immersion.
Basic Animations Are In
Right now, the character has basic walk and idle animations. More will come once I fully integrate the mechanics — but for now, I’m laying the foundation.
Why I’m Sharing This
I’m not rushing to finish everything. This is a personal pre-launch — not a public release. I’m documenting my journey through this blog, mapping out how I started and where I’m headed.
No one knows me here yet — we’re all strangers, right? 😄 But I’m opening up, slowly. I’m still protecting my boundaries and space, but I want to share my story.
What’s Next?
I plan to integrate the scene into my website — not as a full game yet, but as an experience. If people enjoy it and want to support, maybe I’ll gain enough momentum (and funds) to upgrade my hosting plan.
Firebase charges based on bandwidth — every asset download adds to the bill. So I’m being careful not to exceed the free plan. I’m keeping the asset size under 1GB for now, since I don’t have a stable income to cover hosting costs.
Solo Dev Life
I didn’t post last time because I got sick — but I’ve recovered and I’m back at it. I’m working alone: no team, no investors, just me, my skills, and my idea. It’s tough, but I’m doing my best.
Thanks for reading and spending time with me here. I’ll share an actual output of the game once it’s ready — but don’t expect a fully functional game yet. It’s hard-coded and still needs time to grow.
Being a solo dev and artist means I have to prioritize what matters most. Sticker Guy: The Game will follow.
See you in the next blog, stranger. See yah! 👋
