At the very beginning let me apologize you for the click-bait name of the post but it actually has it's purpose.
Did you know that when you post a picture on the internet, no matter is it Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or any other platform you are also sharing metadata called Exif.
So what is Exif?
Exif is short for Exchangeable Image File, a format developed by JEIDA (Japan Electronic Industries Development Association) and introduced in 1995. It is a standard for storing interchange information in digital image files which are using JPEG compression format.
Almost all digital cameras (I write "Almost" but i have never come across any that is not using it) use the EXIF annotation to store information on the image.
What can be found in Exif?
Data such as:
- Shutter speed
- Exposure compensation
- What metering system was used
- Was flash used
- ISO number
- Date and time the image was taken
- whitebalance
- auxiliary lenses that were used
- resolution
- Even GPS information so you can easily see where the images were taken
Internet is full of stories where people were stalked or their homes were broken into after posting a photo full of Exif data on the internet.
What to do?
One of the ways is using EasyExif Delete a free and simple program that will erase exif data embembed in your photo.
All you need is simply download it from:
http://www.easyexifdelete.com/
Run it on your computer.

Click "Select Images"
Chose the files you wish to check.

Choose all the files you wish to delete Exif data from and click "Delete Exif".

Just clear the list and enjoy.

Hope this helps you become a bit more safer while enjoying the web.
