The Phoenix Suns were one of the most impressive teams in the NBA bubble last year and somehow they weren't invited to the playoffs despite their impressive record and play in the bubble. I haven't really heard many questions about why it went that way and at the same time I understand that they aren't one of the leagues most prominent legendary franchises that would attract people to watch. Kind of like when the Spurs would make the finals and the commentary was mostly about how "boring" they are as a franchise despite being consistent for over 2 decades and capturing a handful of rings/championship trophies. I totally get the whole thing about founding/legendary franchises known for having legendary players being the biggest draw for ratings, merch, and international attention, but at the same time there's enough sunshine to go around for everybody. Even more, it gives the smaller market fans a chance to bask in glory of seeing their teams on the big stage of prime time television and build a name for themselves which can also be great for the league in terms of expanding their reach. Case in point for the Phoenix Suns who have the 2nd best record in the heavily loaded Western Conference of the NBA. The team that had an awesome bubble run went on to add Chris Paul and have gotten even better. Last season I was looking forward to seeing who could match them in the playoffs which they weren't invited to despite going undefeated in the bubble. I'm a huge Lebron fan and even I wondered how the Lakers would fair against the Suns of last season in the bubble. Let's not forget that Booker really came into his own in the bubble and has kept it going into this season, so why not see more of the Suns on prime time tv and I'm not even a Suns follower like that. I just feel that since they are one of the hottest teams in the league right now then why don't they have more games in that prime time spot? I think the Suns are for real and I'm not saying they will go to the finals, but expect them to be in the conversation and a legit threat to take down your favorites come playoff time. I would love to see them play the Clippers then the Lakers on the path to the trophy. That would be something to see for 7 games.
