What a game it was to watch last night on TNF. The Chicago Bears pulled out another grinder of a game to take down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they did it with great defense and clutch offensive plays in crucial parts of the game. The Bucs came into the game flying high from last weeks win, and the Bears came in looking to rebound from last weeks loss to the Colts. The Bears defense was sharper and more aggressive than the previous game. The biggest factor was the play of Khalil Mack who had 2 sacks along with the defensive line as a whole pressuring Brady in the 2nd half mostly. Brady is a Hall of Famer without a doubt, but every player has a weakness and his has always been pressure in his face. The Bears front line reminded the league of that last night with phenomenal play calling from defensive coach Chuck Pagano. Bears QB Nick Foles executed the passing game at the exact times that he should with key 3rd down passes to Montgomery on a wheel route and later in the game to Miller on an out route for first downs. Santos was clutch with his field goals and the Bears pressure seemed to make Brady forget what down it was on the final drive of the game. After an incompletion, Brady continued standing on the field as if to contest that the previous play was only 3rd down. Signs of an aging QB? or signs of a slight concussion? I'm sure more will come of it as the week goes on, but the Bears have shocked a lotta people with the record they have thus far. I don't see it as luck. This is just a team that grinds it out game to game, play to play til' the end of the game. Inserting Foles as the starter looks to be the right move thus far because the offense is moving the ball a little better despite a lack luster running game as we saw last night. Im sure recently signed veteran RB Lamar Miller will be moving from the practice squad to the active roster in the coming week and that may give the running game the boost it needs from a guy who was just a pro bowler in 2018 with the Texans. If the Bears defense continues to improve week by week and stay healthy they can prove to be a dangerous team as whole in the chase for the playoffs/Super Bowl.
