Well here we go with the first major Covid outbreak for an NFL team.  The Tennessee Titans are the first regular season team to have their games affected by Covid with a total of 11 people(5 players) testing positive.  That led to their upcoming game against the Steelers being postponed and at this point being moved to week 8 of the season.  That move also brought the Ravens into the fold because they and the Steelers had week 8 as a scheduled bye week but they will now play each other in week 7 so the postponed game can be played in week 8 and keep up with the league schedule.  Easy fix right? Wrong.  The Titans had players test positive with Covid prior to last weeks game against the Vikings but the Vikings have yet to report any positive test since the game.  I find that hard to believe, but with daily testing there may be some changes to that in the coming days.  This is where the NFL has a dilemma unlike the NBA who kept it in a bubble because its a high contact sport.  Plus the NFL roster consist of 52, plus practice squad players so that makes it more challenging to keep up with contact tracing with the rules being so relaxed and teams traveling.  My thing is that I hope teams aren't holding back on information about positive test among players and staff because it could lead to a league wide shutdown at some point.  I'm not paranoid about it, but all I'm saying is that I hope the league is being smart about it for the long term health of all it's players.  They never announced a plan except for playing football and it seems like everything else has been on the fly.  For example, the Raiders had 52 people test positive as they were readying their new stadium in the summer and even coach Jon Gruden came out and admitted he has already had Covid while in a post game conference.  I think the NFL has just chosen to internalize the issue of Covid so that the fans can just enjoy the games and feel some sense of normality during these hectic and trying times of the world.  I think that the NFL season is gonna be longer than usual due to games having to be postponed/rescheduled but the season will carry on because the NFL knows the fans are gonna watch even if their favorite team/player isn't on the field as expected.  This is definitely one to watch going forward and I only hope the best for the NFL and it's players as we all work our way through these times.
