Ledger FUD
Seems like Ledger is offering a new service on their Ledger hard wallet service called Recovery key.
If you have a blue ledger it looks like that version of ledger is at risk. So you’ll be needing at least a nano S,
They way thier new offer works which you can opt out of. Where you shard your seed phrase with ledger’s selected companies.
I recommended not doing this by the way, because essentially people got into crypto because to have decentralised financial independence not to give their financial powers back to big companies again.
Their is also now a scare about Tezor's. This is fear-mongering to get people to take action they don’t necessarily need to take. Wait and see. If something bigger comes out about ledger I’ll blog about it. For the mean time tho, it is seems safe to stay with a Trezor or ledger. But many are looking to diversity their hardware wallets for increased safety. The worst case scenario is that one of these hardware wallets comes sentimentally less secure then we originally understood they where, with the public information provided. It is only if your prepared to look at all the incremental hard details scrutinuously do you uncover those tiny nuggets of truth than when reveal blossom into a public viral informational storm on the internet.
Also it is worth note that Apple has one of the top cyber security people working for them. So hackers outside of apple would find it near by impossible to hack into the latest iPhone that has all the updates, I’m not saying you should have every update, as they have been known to slow down iPhone's. (Just is worth pointing out that if your lock soft wallets apps on your iPhone to the best of my knowledge their is very little chance of any hacker getting in. If you know of something I haven't mentioned or if you just feel know otherwise let me know in the comments. Their is very little chance of a hacker getting into the latest, fully updated iPhone and even then they would have to know how to hack the app that you use and know the password you use to access the soft wallet app account and any seed phrase or private keys of you fund accounts.
