Why using the "Snap Map" is a terrible idea.

Why using the "Snap Map" is a terrible idea.

What is Snapchat?

Snapchat is a form of social media that you download from your phone's app store.

It is one of the innovative social medias as it contains the ability to chat with people, and there is a "cool" feature called the "Snap Map"

How does Snapchat work?

Snapchat includes the ability to chat with your friends, but the twist here is that the chats get deleted as soon as you back out of it, and that you can only view a snap once, but you can replay it, which will then send a notification to the snap sender saying: "(name) Replayed your snap!"

Group chats, on the other hand, are deleted after every 24 hours.

Now, there is a key feature which I will be talking about most today, and that feature is, you guessed it, Snap Map.

What is the "Snap Map"?

The Snap Map is sort of like a gps integrated into the app that shows your location to your friends whenever you open the app.

Now it does not show your steps or anything, it only shows it when you open the app.

The bad part about this is, say some stranger adds you, and you want to see who they are, and you forget about "Ghost Mode" not being turned on

(Ghost mode is a feature in the "Snap Map" that hides your location permanently.) and you accept the person, and he can immediately see your location

in his app.

This makes it easy for predators to track down kids which is the reason why I think that anyone who is using Snapchat should have Ghost Mode on

ALL. THE. TIME.

Conclusion:

The most important thing on any social media app is safety, now I am not saying you shouldn't use Snapchat, all i'm saying is, be careful about whose friend requests you accept, and stay safe.
