Steemit and Publish0x are two quite similar platforms: they aim at remunerating blog authors. Of course, there are some differences, either in the way they work, or in their functionalities. For example, on Steemit, or more generally in the Steem ecosystem, it is the content creators in general who are rewarded. This includes photo, sound or video, through Dapps. On Publish0x, it is above all the functioning of the whole that is clearly simplified.
I arrived on Steemit two years ago, almost to the day. And I must say that my experiences on the two platforms have been slightly different.
First day on Steemit
The reception on Steemit is pretty cold. When you're a beginner, you're nothing. You have no voting power, so you don't interest anyone. An introductory post is recommended for newcomers, but the welcome comments are made by robots, and you quickly end up with a bunch of automatic subscribers, who will never read your posts.
The following posts often go unnoticed, and it took me a while to get my first comments, I mean real comments. Because comments are there, but a bunch of them are automatic, and that's not very motivating.
I was lucky to quickly find a community, since I'm French, the French authors were grouped together in a rather solid community at the time, so once I understood how it worked, I was finally able to take a correct rhythm. But it still took me a few days to do that, not to mention the operating principle of the Steem blockchain, which is quite complex.
First day on Publish0x
Things went faster there. My first articles were greeted with much more interest. And they were commented on accordingly. Of course, not always good, you can't please everyone, but in general the reception was much warmer.
On Publish0x, there is not the "beginner" side that makes you go unnoticed. Of course, you have a lower readership compared to someone who has been registered for a long time, but I can clearly state that my articles have been read and commented on much less on Steemit than here.
The other side of the coin is that the French-speaking community is almost totally absent on Publish0x, so I am forced to publish in English. That's not so bad though, since it allows me to work a bit on my English. By the way, I hope it's readable enough!
This is my overall feeling between the two platforms. To sum up, the start up was more laborious on Steemit, but a French-speaking community was present (note that I'm speaking in the past tense, as it's not really the case anymore). On Publish0x, no french-speaking people, or very few, but no discrimination against beginners, and that's really a good thing.
