And how do you spend your money during this period?

I have no money

May I ask you how you are doing with your money during this period or do you tell me "something sweet" if I open the subject? Come on, I think we can talk openly about that, that saying, " it's hard for dads ." Look, for example, I haven't received anything since March . And all the events and collaborations during this period were canceled. They scattered. They disappeared. Ready! I have no money!

When I started the year, I said it would be by far one of the best years, especially financially. Money was going to flow, and I wasn't going to worry about them. I had proudly spent all my income and expenses in my Kakeibo notebook and I could swear that I would meet all my financial goals.

Then came the pandemic and my projects started to be canceled, one by one, until I had nothing left. Without projects it obviously means no money. And if some of you had at least technical unemployment or any state aid, I didn't fit into any of them. Okay, that's right, I don't even want financial help from the state. I just want to work and earn my money, for honest work, as I did before .

We need financial education in schools

How did I live during this period? Or rather… with what? Obviously, with savings! And with the help of my family, who, like any parent of their generation, always brought me bags over bags of food. Honestly, I don't usually spend a lot of money, so I can't say that I suffered a lot during this period because I didn't have money for what I want. Anyway, for me most of the money goes on rent, utilities and bills, then on culture, education and health.

But I also heard cases of people who hadn't put anything aside, who were used to spending unknowingly, and who woke up with their hands tied and their coffers empty. I know, you will say that in some cases it is quite impossible to put something aside when you have a large family and you can barely take it from one day to the next. But let's do a little analysis and admit that we, as Romanians, do not have much with the savings, with the expenses made with the head and with the financial information . And… yes, I say this for the thousandth time and I will keep saying it: we also need financial education in schools!

The school of well-bred money during the pandemic

Until the financial education in our schools, which I do not know when it will be, let's at least use the resources we have at hand and introduce our children to the " School of well-raised money ". Well, come on, don't caress me, because I've told you about her before! How when? Last year, in November, when I took a new interview with Cristina Andone about the first volume of the Money School, a financial education book for children, published by Univers Publishing House , with the help of the Money School project , from BCR .

And look, the "fairy of children's books," as I like to call Cristina, has released the second volume of the School of Well-Grown Money series , a volume more than welcome in this time of crisis and pandemic. And to tell you the truth, looking around me, I realize that the volume is perfect for both children and adults. Contains seven stories about entrepreneurship, business and the role of money, plus a guide to how we manage our budget in crisis situations.

What exactly do you find out from the second volume of the School of Well-Grown Money ?

  • What does it mean to have a business and how can you become an entrepreneur?
  • What is the role of the bank in opening a business?
  • What does credit, interest, term and shareholder mean?
  • What is collateral, personal loan and real estate loan?
  • What does a deposit, an account and a card entail?
  • What do copyrights mean and what are the costs of production, transport and storage?

How do we make money together?

Until you take your book, online or from bookstores, I leave you with the five simple measures in difficult times , which Cristina Andone proposes in her book:

  1. We cut the expenses we can give up;
  2. We keep the expenses for our survival;
  3. We keep a small part of the living expenses, because in this way we help those who have a bookstore we like, a flower shop, a pizzeria, a confectionery to continue. There are expenses for the survival of others, for the good progress of our community;
  4. We donate to those who can do good things: health, care for the elderly, care for orphans. In difficult times, the weak must not be forgotten;
  5. We give time. That's how we can help without money. When it is difficult, when it seems to us that we have nothing for others, we always have time to give.

I hope that you will give of your time, both to others and to yourself, to read this book with the little ones and to learn together not only that big dreams grow from small ones , but also that it is better together !
