The Dark Matter

The Dark Matter

What is the Dark Matter?

It is a type of matter hypothesized by scientists and that it can make up 26.8% of the entire universe. While the visible mass that constitutes stars, planets, galaxies, us and everything around us is easily identifiable, this type of matter does not emit radiation and for this reason it is not visible with any instrument at our disposal today. The theory of dark matter was born to justify the fact that the celestial bodies that make up the galaxies, although the latter rotate very quickly, remain compact to form these immense agglomerations of planets and stars. In fact, according to scientists, due to the high rotation speed of galaxies, everything inside them would not be able to stay inside it but should be launched for the entire universe. However, all this does not happen and for this reason it has been hypothesized a type of matter that is not visible but which, with its gravitational force, manages to keep the celestial bodies compact in the galaxies themselves. Even today there is no objective evidence of the existence of dark matter, even if it is thought that it can constitute very particular objects such as black holes or brown dwarfs. It remains one of the most mysterious and unsolved topics ever.
