The world of dreams has always seemed frankly fascinating, and it is not for less . Every night, many of us live fascinating stories that, as unlikely as they may seem, we take ourselves so seriously that sometimes we continue to hover our heads even days after dreaming.
This field is so fascinating that there are people who have dedicated their entire lives to study the so-called 'science of sleep'. However, after thousands of years of history, this enigmatic world continues to leave many doors open to the imagination because, today, it is not possible to answer all the questions we ask in relation to dreams. Despite this, throughout this time of research, this science has been directed to the point that we are getting closer to being able to realize our dreams through recordings. However, today we feel that we have much left to understand what happens in our minds every night while we sleep.
What do the blind-from-birth dream?
The dreams of blind people can vary depending on whether their blindness is acquired throughout their lives or if, on the contrary, they are blind from birth.
In the case of blind people from birth, many agree that while they are dreaming they are equally unable to see the world around them. However, as in real life, the rest of their senses seem to sharpen. Many blind people agree that, during their dreams, they can taste the food, perceive all kinds of smells, hold conversations with known people (and also strangers) and even feel the sea breeze or the heat of the sun.
Instead, people who have acquired blindness throughout their lives base their dreams on their own memories before losing sight. Although, as many have claimed, over the years in their dreams the rest of their senses become more relevant.
What do babies dream about?
According to the Spanish Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, children do not begin to dream until after 18 months of age. However, other experts say that the baby can already start dreaming since s/he is in the womb.
Throughout its life as a baby, the child is likely to dream of events that take place in his day-to-day life: experiences with family members, children's programs s/he watches on television ... and it is not until after three years that the baby will begin to have nightmares. It is for this reason that parents are advised to collaborate in creating a quiet environment for the child away from noise and tensions that may disturb their sleep while he is sleeping since this stage is vital for his cognitive development and for his behavior.
In the same way, when we see that newborn smiles while sleeping, we can consider it part, rather than the product of a dream, of the state of satisfaction and well-being in which he finds himself sleeping peacefully or having eaten well.
What do dogs dream about?
The members of the animal kingdom also have their own dreams. One of the issues that have always disturbed human beings is what dogs dream about. According to a wide variety of studies, it has been concluded that these pets tend to recreate their daily moments in dreams. Therefore, every time we see him moan, bark and even move his paws as if he were running, it is quite likely that the dog is reliving emotions and situations.
It is important not to wake up pets when they are in this deep state of sleep, because, like humans, dogs need to rest to recharge energy.
The study of dreams
