Artemis II crew prepares for a historic journey around the moon

NASA’s Artemis II astronauts are preparing for a major mission that will send humans farther into space than any crew has traveled in decades. The flight is expected to mark the first crewed mission of NASA’s Artemis program and an important return to deep-space exploration since the Apollo era ended more than 50 years ago.

Unlike the famous Apollo Moon landings, Artemis II is not designed to land on the lunar surface. Instead, the crew will travel around the Moon and then return to Earth.
