I was watching a couple of videos on photography the other day and both Youtubers made a comment about black and white photos that was kind of snarky. One was in the context of editing, blending modes in Photoshop to be exact. It was a live Adobe event, and the lecturer was asked what to do if you try all the blending modes and still cannot get the photo to look that good. The answer was - "Well in that case, convert the photo to black and white".

The other Youtuber, made the comment - "Why does everybody at some point take so many b&w photos when they get in to photography? As if all of a sudden, they forgot that colors exist?".

I know they were both joking, but I have heard others say things like that too. That kind of bothers me, I think black and white photography is very elegant and really hard to pull off. You can hide some "bad" qualities of a color photo with editing, but that is really hard to do with b&w, especially if you get the shadows and highlights wrong.

Anyway, just my two cents, I am working on my photography skills every day as much as I can, and b&w will always be one of the main styles I enjoy shooting.

(I know the one above is not black and white, but I like it , so I am posting it:)) )
