Lightning has been bottled once again! A solo "lottery miner" has confirmed a block, using a relatively small amount of hashing power. Instances of home miners continue to happen, proving that sometimes the little guy can win. This past Friday, April 18th, Bitcoin block #945601 was confirmed by someone using a NerdQAxe++ and the miner posted on X:

This guy had some serious luck; must have been born with a horseshoe implanted in his head. Not only was he mining for less than a month, his NerdQAxe++ found the block with what appears to be 4.7 TH/s power. That's simply incredible. Let me tell you the odds of this happening with that hashing power compared to a Bitcoin network hashrate of 1 ZH/s (it was little bit higher on Friday when the block was found, but just go with it):
- A 4.7 TH/s miner is about 0.00000047% of the network hashrate of 1 ZH/s
- With about 144 blocks per day, the daily odds of this miner finding a block is 1 in 1,477,539
- The expected wait time for this NerdQAxe++ to find a block is about 4,047 years
- A full year of continuous mining (approx. 52,560 blocks), the probability of finding at least one block is approximately 1 in 4,047
So, yeah...congratulations to Kevin on beating those odds -- incredible! If you want to try to beat the odds like Kevin did and get into Bitcoin mining, check out SoloSatoshi for great deals on at-home lottery miners like the BitAxe and NerdQAxe++ -- they're fairly simple to setup and will give you a chance at hitting a block and getting that sweet block reward.
Speaking of block rewards, here's the blockchain transaction for block #945601, confirmed by Kevin on the Parasite Pool:

I had heard of the Parasite Pool, but did not know much about it until recently. PP launched in April 2025, founded by ZShark. It uses a different reward model than other solo mining pools. Instead of charging a flat 1-2% fee for block reward or pay-per-share model, it uses the self-proclaimed "plebs eat first" model. What that means is that a miner confirming a block gets 1 BTC of the current 3.125 BTC mining reward, while the remaining ~2.15 BTC is proportionally distributed among all other miners in the pool. What this means is that instead of playing the "all or nothing" game, participating miners still get the potential for a high-reward while also benefiting if another pool participant hits a block.
This is the second block mined by the Parasite Pool; the first block was mined in February 2026. The pool hashrate has jumped since their second block was found; I can't imagine why ;)

There you have it, fellow P0x'ers. If you're a miner, hash on. If you're a lurker, lurk on. If you're a rocker, rock on. Either way, have a great day!
