What it is P0x'ers!! Coming in hot on a Wednesday is a mid-week update on my second-most researched subject...the leading carbon-negative materials company that is Origin Materials. Why not? When you have a vested interest, it makes things a little more interesting. So, with that being said, let's get down to it.
Today started off like any other day of Q3 '23, seemed like it was going to be a snoozefest. Sometimes, you gotta try to look for your own news. So, that's what I did. Again, I spent the early morning hours perusing good 'ole LinkedIn. Hoping to find some fresh bread crumbs, I'm stumbling upon a lot of promotions. The good? Employees are sticking around and being promoted from within. Must be a solid culture being built. The bad? These promotions don't come without raises, one can safely assume. The cash burn goes up, even if ever-so-slightly. But hey, they must pay to play! Here are some recent ascensions I've stumbled upon:

This one is more of a "return of the intern!" Glad she's back!

This person is ascending the corporate ladder in Geismar, Louisiana which is part of the state's Ascension Parish. So that's ascension x2, now reporting to the CEO x2!

Finally, the last little "LinkedIn tidbit" doesn't exactly have to do with jobs. Well, this guy may well in fact be searching for a new job. Perhaps his role at Origin has come to a close. Whatever the reason, he felt the need to beef up his resume. And he may have dropped some news that may not have been previously made public. But now it is.

Unit economics coming into focus? Personally, I'm left with more questions but it is encouraging to see these two new binding offtake agreements. These are more definitive than the capacity reservations. Also, we are aware of the joint development agreement with Indorama. Now there is another? Who could it be?
Discord users have been wondering what is going on at Origin 1. So user "tgood" (insert shoutout and photo credit here) took a trip to Sarnia to see what he could see. Well, here's what he could see:

Not very much without access behind the Bio-Industrial Park gates. We certainly couldn't see anything, which really left us wondering. What are they doing back there? Having comic book parties?
So it was quite surprising to find out that today the red carpet was rolled out and the Chemperor himself John Bissell was on-site with the giant ceremonial scissors to cut the red ribbon. With great fanfare (but not much coverage other than from a few local news sources), staff and local leaders celebrated the opening of Origin 1. The following photos are from CK News Today:

Exciting times!
"We've handed off the whole plant to operations and manufacturing, we haven't started producing product off of it yet, but we are very, very close"
Bissell said. Just how close? That's what everyone wants to know and will be left wondering! Anyway, he went on to call O1 "the most green kind of plant you could possibly imagine." And he wasn't talking about one that contains chlorophyll but rather one that produces chloromethyl furfural. In fact, it's the world's first commercial CMF plant. Again, exciting times!
So exciting, in fact, that Sarnia mayor Mike Bradley felt the need to Tweet and posted these photos of some OM-themed sweet treats. His cryptic message makes it seem like the celebration will be continuing tomorrow?
New Origin Materials Plant opened Today. There is an Embargo till tomorrow on the opening ceremony. Mayor Man managed to take these pictures on The Grind Food for the opening. Please do not share.

If I wasn't suppose to share these photos, I do apologize Mr. Mayor -- please don't hold it against me. The cookies in particular do look mighty tasty. Anyway, the pennant in the background reads "tempura chicken skewer" and if you're curious like I was, "The Grind" referred to in the Tweet refers to GRIND kitchen + bar, where the skewers are coming from. Did this blog post just turn into a pump piece for Sarnia? Well done, Mayor!
Well, that about sums it up for this blog post about Origin Materials. Almost. Finally, on a bit of a more boring note, the Solactive Trade Republic Decarbonisation Index will rebalance on August 1, 2023 and Origin Materials stock will be included in it.
Okay, that's really it. I have no more to share. Until next time!
