From "Scam" to "Great Bitcoiners" - Trump's Flipflop on BTC

A Trump-led White House has already translated to a substantial increase in the price of Bitcoin. That really should come as no surprise to anyone who's been following the campaigns and hearing the promises.

So, Bitcoin is actually already made in the USA. Well, partly anyway. Bitcoin miners are all over the world. Some of the American based operators include Marathon Digital Holdings, Core Scientific, Riot Platforms, and CleanSpark.

Anyway, that's besides the point. Bitcoin does not need a "political catalyst" to keep going up over the long-term. Sure, in the short-term it is definitely beneficial. There is not a hodler upset by seeing these new all-time highs being established. But lest we forget: Bitcoin was created as an alternative to the legacy fiat money system.

A Republican-led America should translate to a better environment for business with less regulations and, if all goes according to plan, a lower interest rate. It should be noted that Trump, historically, has been in favour of a strong US Dollar. It was not too long ago, in 2021, that he had a contrarian view on Bitcoin.

So why has Trump gone from calling Bitcoin a scam to wishing "our great Bitcoiners a Happy 16th Anniversary of Satoshi's White Paper" in complete about-face? It's pretty obvious he wanted to ensure the votes of the laser-eyed crowd. Philosophically, it seems to me to be kind of contradictory to favour a strong US dollar and a strong Bitcoin. So, it will be very interesting to see how this landscape will play out. If we are to believe that Bitcoin will continue to soar over time as the US Dollar becomes increasingly devalued due to its inflationary nature, just how can both be strong in the same world?
