My Bitcoin Stock Portfolio (end of week 20-11-20)

My Bitcoin Stock Portfolio (end of week 20-11-20)

By Raymo | Raymo Investment Blog | 21 Nov 2020

Another week over as I managed to add one more bitcoin-related stock to my portfolio, that being Mike Novogratz's Galaxy Digital (GLXY) trading in the Toronto Stock exchange. Here are my returns for the last two weeks based on the valuation tab on my discount brokerage summary page.

MicroStrategy (MSTR):  +28.4%  (Nov 20/20)  +11.2% (Nov 13/20)

(Note- MSTR's BTC holdings is up 68% while the stock is up only 28.4%.)

Bitfarms (BITF): +42.9% (Nov 20/20) +22.12% (Nov 13/20)

Voyager Digital (VYGR): +40.0% (Nov 20/20) +45.1% (Nov 13/20)

3iQ The Bitcoin Fund (QBTC): -5.1% (Nov 20/20) -11.1% (Nov 13/20)

Hut8 Mining (HUT.wt): -6.0% (Nov 20/20) -32.3% (Nov 13/20)

Galaxy Digital (GLXY) -6.6% (Nov 20/20)

BTC purchased off Coinbase: +59.7% (Nov 20/20) +39% (Nov 13/20) (using bitcoindollarcostaverage.com)

Conclusion:

Holding bitcoins over bitcoin-related stocks appear to be the better strategy the past two weeks, even though there were noticeable gains made by the stocks but the bitcoin price rise was powerful. Nearly as powerful a move was the performance of the two bitcoin mining companies (BITF, HUT.wt) as they were able to capture similarly large gains during the week. BITF usually sells what they mine within days so they do capture the bitcoin price move and that is why they don't show up on the bitcoin treasury list. My holding in the Hut 8 warrants is a leverage play and can rise quickly.
