Yet another allegation in a long list that could take his jail sentence to over 100 years. This time its bribery. Sam Bankman-Fried has been accused of bribing at least one Chinese official to gain access to crypto belonging to one of his other company Alameda Research.
The accounts holding this crypto were frozen by the Chinese authorities before being unfrozen after a transfer of $40 million worth of crypto from Alamedas main trading account to a private address. The total value of the frozen accounts is estimated at $1 billion. This bribe came at the end of a long line of attempts from Sam to access the frozen accounts.
Sam is currently on a $250 million bail, originally pleading not guilty for stealing funds from FTX customers to save Alameda but has yet to plead for the new charge of bribery. If Sam is now found guilty his sentence could be more than 100 years.
