WHY THE HELL DID TWITTER LET ELON MUSK TAKE OVER?

By Queenofdarkness | QueenofDarkness | 1 Nov 2022

Twitter has been in the news a lot lately, and not for good reasons. The platform has been accused of censorship, shadowbanning, and a variety of other offenses. But the latest controversy is perhaps the most baffling: why the hell did they let Elon Musk take over? For those who don’t know, Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and he is also one of the richest men in the world. He has a history of making controversial statements and has been known to Tweet things that are… let’s say, less than accurate. So why would Twitter allow him to take over their platform? It’s a good question

Who is Elon Musk?

Elon Reeve Musk FRS (/ˈiːlɒn/ EE-lon; born June 28, 1971) is a business magnate, industrial designer, and engineer. He is the founder, CEO, CTO, and chief designer of SpaceX; early investor, CEO, and product architect of Tesla, Inc.; founder of The Boring Company; co-founder of Neuralink; and co-founder and initial co-chairman of OpenAI. A centibillionaire, Musk is one of the richest people in the world.

Musk was born to a Canadian mother and a South African father and raised in Pretoria, South Africa. He briefly attended the University of Pretoria before moving to Canada aged 17 to attend Queen's University. He transferred to the University of Pennsylvania two years later, receiving dual bachelor's degrees in economics and physics. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University but decided instead to pursue a business career, co-founding web software company Zip2 with his brother Kimbal. The start-up was acquired by Compaq for $307 million in 1999. Musk co-founded online bank X.com that same year, which merged with Confinity in 2000 to form the company PayPal and was subsequently bought by eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion.

Why did Twitter let Elon Musk take over?

Twitter has been struggling to find its footing for a while now. In the past year, it has lost two of its most high-profile executives, Jack Dorsey and Dick Costolo. This has left the company in a precarious position, and it is now turning to one of the most high-profile figures in the tech world to help turn things around: Elon Musk.

Musk is no stranger to Twitter. He is an avid user of the platform and has used it to promote his companies and products on numerous occasions. This time, however, he will be taking on a more active role in the company. As part of his new position, Musk will be joining Twitter's board of directors.

Can Elon Musk Be Trusted?

Now let's see First, some people may not like his style of communication. He is often very informal and doesn't always use proper grammar, which could turn some people off.

Second, he is very outspoken and opinionated, which could rub some people the wrong way. Some may find his tweets offensive or insensitive.

Third, he is very active on Twitter, which could mean that he doesn't have enough time to actually run the company. He might be more focused on tweeting than on running Twitter.

Fourth, he is very close to President Trump, which could alienate some users. Some people may not want to use a platform that is associated with Trump.

Fifth, he has a history of making controversial statements, which could get Twitter into hot water. If he says something offensive or insensitive, it could reflect badly on the company

Elon Musk's most  Controversial Tweets

1. When Elon Musk tweeted, "If we can't all be equal, then some of us must be more equal than others." This is why this comment might upset black people. " First, it suggests that white people are more equal than black people, which is clearly not the case. Second, it implies that black people are not capable of achieving equality, which is also untrue. Finally, it suggests that white people are not interested in equality

 2. When Elon Musk tweeted. "Racism is a thing of the past; we're all equal now." First, racism is still very much a present reality for many black people. They experience it in their everyday lives, whether it's in the form of microaggressions or outright discrimination. Second, even if racism is no longer as overt as it once was, that doesn't mean it's gone. Structural racism is still a very real problem in our society, and it disproportionately affects black people. Finally, even if individual white people may not be racist, they still benefit from the systemic racism that exists in our society. Saying that racism is a thing of the past suggests that black people are just being oversensitive or that they should just get over it. That's not fair or accurate, and it's why black people get offended when white people say that racism is a thing of the past.

3. When Elon Musk tweeted, "I'm not racist; I have black friends!"Just for the record, when white people say they have black friends, this is why black people get upset. First, it could be seen as a form of denial, where the person is refusing to acknowledge that they could be racist. Second, it could be interpreted as a way of deflecting responsibility, as if having black friends absolves them of any racism. And third, it could be viewed as a form of tokenism, where the person is only considering their black friends as a way to prove they are not racist, rather than actually valuing them as friends. Ultimately, it is important to be aware of how your words might be interpreted and to be sensitive to the experiences and perspectives of others

Some have argued that it was irresponsible of Twitter to give Musk free reign over their platform, given his history of controversial and provocative statements. Others have said that it was a genius marketing move that generated a lot of buzz for the company. Whatever your opinion on the matter, it's clear that Twitter's decision to let Musk take over was a risky one—America once again proving what others think, as long as you have money, you can have anything you want
