The best apps and services in crypto today!

By MadMaxx | Psycho Crypto | 10 Feb 2020

It's always great news to see people in the crypto space doing great things to make sure that crypto as a whole sees mass adoption in the nearer future.

Today I have decided to pick out the best crypto projects and give a mini review of some of them. These projects have impacted their various spaces, and do something that other options in the market don't.

I will divide this post into:

  • The best cryptocurrency mobile wallet.
  • The best cryptocurrency desktop wallet
  • Best cryptocurrency app that enables mass adoption
  • Best cryptocurrency app that gives away free crypto.(Because we all love free stuff)
  • Best cryptocurrency app for trading(this part will have some specialised content, some of which will be the best exchange for certain regions or something like that)

With that said, let's get started.

Ps: I am using this as an avenue to discuss the latest BTC 4% flash drop. Don't be scared, because this pull back is actually necessary for BTC to rally to 13k. If you're not long, you're wrong!

Best crypto mobile wallet.

A mobile wallet is one which is available on your mobile phones, and in which you can store all your cryptocurrencies safely.

The features you should be looking out for are:

  • You must be given your private keys. The wallet provider should in no case have monopoly over your private keys, because then you really don't own your crypto.
  • It should be visually pleasing: You shouldn't hate looking at your wallet. You should always enjoy going into the app to look at your balance. And it should be intuitive for even newbies to use.
  • Ease of use: You shouldn't have to feel like a computer programmer when using your mobile wallet. It should be as thoughtless as sending money through PayPal.
  • Security: Your mobile wallet must be safe from hacks, Trojans and all those things. You also have a part to play in making sure that it is safe, but keep in mind that your service provider must offer certain types of encryption to ensure that you are 100% safe from hacks.
  • Fees: The fees that your wallet provider charges must only be network fees. Charging fees for anything else is wrong, and you shouldn't use such a provider.

With all these in mind, I have nominated about 4 mobile wallets that fulfill at least 3 of the criteria cited above. Here are my nominations:

  • Coinbase wallet
  • Bread wallet
  • Luno wallet
  • Trust wallet

In my opinion, the winner of this round is the Trust wallet. It doesn't look as pretty as the Coinbase or Luno wallet, but it is definitely pretty also. It's ease of use is impeccable. It's almost like PayPal even, except you have to copy the address you wish to send to.

The wallet is super secure, using all the newer forms of encryption required for safety online. There is also the fact that the wallet gives you your private keys out of the box, which is something Luno and Coinbase don't do.

Trust wallet also doesn't charge any fees, so you end up paying only network fees. This is great because of the fact that Luno actually has the audacity to charge you 1% of your transaction as a "send fee", even after adding the network fees into the amount you're sending.

So the winner of this category is Trust Wallet. Get it here.

Best Crypto desktop wallet

Desktip wallets are more or less the same as mobile wallets, except for the obvious fact that they're on desktop.

These wallets also hold your crypto for you, but if you majorly do s lot of browsing with your desktop, it's essential to get some security like Norton or Kaspersky. This is to prevent crypto stealing programs from getting into your system and doing bad things.

Here are the criteria for choosing one of these:

With all these in kind, I have selected the best one for you.

And that wallet is the Exodus Wallet.

It is extremely pleasing to use and look at. It is also super secure, doesn't charge send fees like Luno, easy to use, and you're given your private keys so you can move your wallet if you so wish.

This wallet is available for download everywhere, but I strongly suggest that users download the app from the website of the creators. It can be found here.

Best Crypto app that encourages mass adoption.

Mass adoption in the crypto world is extremely essential for its growth.

Believe it or not, the percentage of people using cryptocurrencies and their projects hasn't really gone up all that much since crypto debuted back in 2009.

That said, these apps also just possess certain features that ensure that they complete the task for which they are sent.

These criteria include:

  • They must be extremely easy to use: If you make a wallet app that makes you feel like a coder when you use it, you're wrong. These apps that are here to foster mass adoption must be easy to use, so that even a six year old person won't have such a hard time using it.
  • They must give some form of incentive for using them: The first thing that people look for in a crypto project is the airdrop. These projects must be able to hand out free cryptocurrencies or other incentives to users to foster the adoption of Cryptocurrencies.
  • There must be some kind of problem that these projects set out to fix. Be it banking the unbanked or trying to be the new money, or making mobile mining seem like a real thing.

With this in mind, I have selected Electroneum, Bottle Pay and Pi.

And to me, the winner is Bottle Pay.(although they have been temporarily suspended, the service will return soon)

Bottle Pay helps you easily send and receive Bitcoin with no miner's fee. This sounds absurd, but the way they do it is using the Lightning network as a kind of gateway for your Bitcoin to pass through.

The beauty of this app is that you can use it to send Bitcoin to just about ANY bitcoin wallet, not just lightning wallets. And the app is extremely easy and intuitive to use, and you get 1000 Sats free upon sign-up! That's more or less all the features I listed in one app!

For now though, Bottle Pay has some legal issues with the United Kingdom's financial securities board. They have promised that these problems will be fixed before the close of February, which is amazing news. You can sign up here to receive your 1000 free sats!

Now on to the next section!

Best cryptocurrency app that gives away free crypto.

This one is dead simple to understand. The app in question will give out free cryptocurrency that is actually worth something (not $0.5 a month), and doesn't require much work or skill to use. It'd be great if we could get something that ran on auto pilot even.

For this reason, I have selected Electroneum and the Free Litecoin app.

I chose Electroneum as the winner because of the fact that that thing is dead easy to use. You simply download the Android or iOS app, setup your account in less than 10 minutes and you're good to go!

Electroneum earns you ETN simply by simulating a cloud mining experience. Mining isn't possible on phones yet, but Electroneum makes it feel like you're actually mining something, and that feeling can be quite something for newbies.

You can also earn up to $5 a month for basically leaving the app to run. And you don't need to have the app running to earn your ETN tokens.

These tokens can also be traded on KuCoin and OKEx, so that's also an added bonus.

When you download the app, please use my referral code 8D999C so that both of us get a little more for free.

Now, here's the reason the free Litecoin app didn't make the cut.

The app basically gives away free Litecoin(duh) and there's a 100000 LTC satoshi giveaway every hour, so you could get lucky.

In my testing after using it extensively for about a month, I made just $2 in a month of use with about an hour a day of use. Of course you will make more money if you spend more than an hour, but this post is on the ones that DON'T require much effort. If you're up to it though, you could try out the app here.

Lastly, the best crypto trading app.

This one has very obvious requirements, such as ease of use, a beautiful outlook, low fees and must accept your region.

For this purpose, I have selected Luno for Africa, Remitano for Africa, Binance globally, Coinbase for most parts of the world, Bitfinex for the whole world excluding USA, Iraq and Iran, and Bittrex.

For Africans, the best exchange has got to be Luno. You can literally withdraw your crypto into fiat without first selling it, which is just insane. This means that they execute a sell order on your behalf instantly, and you get your money into your local account in 5 minutes or less.

The exchange is also noob friendly, and the color scheme and fonts make the whole thing look very beautiful. The app is only just 5MB if you want it on Android, and 15 on iOS. The app incorporated the full exchange, but you can't put indicators or use trend lines, so that's a bummer. I feel that the app is to keep track on your active investments, not make new ones.

You can download Luno here. Buying $5 worth of crypto through that link gives you an extra $5 for free!

Now for why I didn't choose Remitano. Remitano isn't really an exchange, although they do have exchange services. They are more of a P2P service where you buy from someone or sell to someone directly. This type of buying and selling isn't recommended for noobs, because they will get scammed as the person might make them not send the bitcoin through the escrow. This is why I highly recommend exchanges to beginners, and not P2P.

Now, the best exchange globally would have to be Binance. Binance is available in all countries around the world, including Israel which is very impressive. They boast of low fees, and intuitive interface and possibly the best customer service of any exchange I've used.

They also have powerful mobile apps which can use indicators(about 12 of them. Options!) and trend line use in the apps is coming.

Download or sign up here.

Why I didn't choose Coinbase for globally best exchange is simple: It charges stupid high fees.

If you live in America or Europe, you could overlook the fees because of the functionality and direct linkage to your bank account. But for everyone else, you'll have to deal with intense questioning and a 4% transaction fee every time you do something. You also have to do full blown KYC, and they might still not accept your request even if you pass. This isn't the case for America or Europe though.

Anyway, that's my list. Thank you for reading, and if you have any categories I should have added, let me know in the comments.
