We all hate loss.
It sucks real bad.
You planned the trade. You did the work. You pressed buy at the right time. Everything went perfectly.
So why the heck did you lose? Wasn't everything perfect?
That's the thing with speculation. It can go either way.
The market is never really on your side. You can only be on ITS side.
If trading was heaven, the market would be God.
That said, even though you make losses, it isn't the right time to throw in the trading towel and go back to stocks and commodities.(ewww)
Here's how I feel with losses, and how you probably should too.
1. Realise you've helped others lose to, and karma caught up.
In the market, your profit is another's loss. That's just how it works.
When you see it that way, you begin to see your profits as "wrong". (Probably not)
And realising that making profits is causing losses, you too realise the part you have to play in making the market keep kicking.
It's not great to make a loss, but remember you're not the only one. Many others make countless losses a day, and today just wasn't a good day
2. Realise it's part of the process.
After step 1 is done, you have to remember you're human. Human beings do make mistakes, and this is yours. Accept it. Maybe even embrace it.
Losses are part of the process of learning. And remember, you're always a learner od the market
Even if you make profits consistently.
The market always teaches you that you don't know everything, and that there's always room for improving
3. Realise that you still have potential
It sucks to lose a trade. You did all the necessary, and it just didn't work. Then the doubt comes.
You begin to see yourself as incapable. And you begin to think those negative thoughts, and might even consider quitting.
Especially if the loss was large.
But you'll have to remember that you have also won trades. And that the person who won and the person who lost are the same person.
Seeing things like this will not only enable you to move forward, but also to realise that you will still make more profit than what you lost.
I hope this helped in some way.
