I've heard it everywhere. On twitter. On telegram groups. Even some of my friends have said it. They've all, at some point, directly or indirectly said that owning bitcoin means financial freedom.

I kinda sorta disagree with that. Let me tell you why.

As someone who trades for a living(literally. I live off my earnings in the crypto, Forex and stock markets), I've noticed that trading bitcoin doesn't bring as much profit as other vehicles.

I mostly make my money in the crypto market from alts. Trading alts helps me eat and pay for the internet, and generally live.

Many people might argue that they said "owning Bitcoin". So let's talk about that.

I have done a few "experiments" which I documented here on this blog, where I compared my results from holding and trading bitcoin. Every single time my holding value was exponentially less than my trading value.

We are not yet close to a world where we only use Bitcoin as a means of exchange. If we were, your boss could pay you in Bitcoin, and you could buy your food and drinks with Bitcoin. That would mean that you would be working and earning Bitcoin for your work.

However, in the world where we live right now, you spend your earned fiat on bitcoin. And if you refuse to learn how to trade, you might end up buying at the top and regretting your life decisions. Like the person that made Bitcoin's all time high.😉

Many people might argue that although my trading results bested my holding results, my holding results were still good enough. But if an average Joe just hope into the market with his money and buys some Bitcoin without knowing if a bull market had just exhausted, it would be devastating for him. He'll be part of the people on twitter saying that Bitcoin is a scam, because he lost his money without gaining the necessary knowledge.

If I was to say that owning Bitcoin meant financial advice, I would add trading to that sentence. Sure, I might not be the best trader at Bitcoin, but I know a few that turned 0.4BTC accounts into 20BTC in 2 years! That's amazing stuff.

Anyone can learn trading and become just like those my friends who multiplied accounts exponentially.

So in conclusion, owning bitcoin with a knowledge of trading the financial market will possibly lead to financial freedom.
