You must have climbed a tree when you were a kid.
Or maybe even hugged a tree as an adult.
It's all so very instinctive.
This thing about trees.
Others even build tree houses.
Simple ones.
Complex ones.
And kids spend time all day long there.
Lost in their own imagination and creativity.
Even adults need time to spend in that tree house.
Stay away from the population for a change.
Listen to nature as She comes alive when you're up there.
Close your eyes and breathe in Her Energy.
Nature does that.
She heals you.
Pretend you're a druid for a day.
That you're Master of Trees.
Weave your own brand of magic as you hear the wind rustling through the leaves.
Allow the trees to speak to you.
Allow their solidity to ground you.
Allow their roots to take root in you.
Allow her branches to expand your vision.
Become one with her.
In the city where I live, the trees are drying up.
They can stand age.
But they can't stand pollution.
One day, I prepared to cross the street.
Very close to where I was standing, a huge branch fell.
Just like that.
She surely caught my attention.
And spared my life.
Even as bystanders were shocked, mouths open.
And they looked at me strangely.
They knew I was lucky.
In retrospect, I knew tree spoke out in her own way.
She knew I'd never forget.
She knew I'd speak about it.
Of course, I reported it a friend who called the city's attention.
Next day, the parks people started trimming the branches.
Of course, I shivered at the thought their branches would fall on other people.
It was a park after all, and people tended to walk there.
Trees were decaying.
They were drying up.
They probably have had enough of our carbon dioxide.
But trees are healers.
They ground our energy.
They give us comfort.
Try hugging a tree when you're sad or lonely.
They won't push you away.
They're steady.
Comforting.
Healing.
Balancing.
They shower you with leaves.
Even fallen leaves still have beauty in them.
If you have the heart and eye to see.
And when you see their beautiful colors at autumn, you'd want to jump onto the pile.
And that's just a tree.
How much more mother nature has for all of us.
Trees are there for shade, for leaning when you read a book.
Or when you hug your loved ones.
A sanctuary for animals in danger.
Where I live, they've asked we stop using plastic.
In the process, we now use eco-bags.
Or the supermarkets use paper bags.
And sometimes they use double.
Because their bags are so thin.
And I think of the trees.
They'll get the brunt of it.
They're our oxygen.
How much more service shall we ask of them.
Aren't they giving enough.
We really are a consuming lot.
I know what to do.
Consume less.
Love more.
I must save my trees.
That's the druid thing to do.
